İngilizce oda nasıl tarif edilir? (B1) Yer edatları, sıfatlar ve dört paragraflık plan

Workers compare differently coloured areas during an office design trial.

B1 seviyesinde İngilizce oda tarifi: against, along ve above gibi kesin yer edatları, sıfatların yeri ve karşılaştırmalar, odayla ilgili görüşünüzle biten dört paragraflık bir plan.

İngilizce bir odayı tarif ederken okuru odanın içinde gezdirin: oda nedir, genel izlenim nasıldır (büyüklük, renk, ışık, manzara), ana eşyalar tam olarak nerededir ve oda sizin için neden önemlidir. İşin çoğunu doğru yer edatları yapar: “A desk stands against the green wall.” “Not as comfortable as” gibi karşılaştırmalar da tarifi görüşe dönüştürür.

in / inside

within a room, container, or enclosed space

Maya is standing in the green area, and a small plant grows inside a white pot.

on / above

touching a surface; higher than something without necessarily touching it

A laptop is on the desk, and green lamps hang above the tables.

at / in the corner

at identifies a point; in the corner identifies the space where surfaces meet

Owen is standing at a table, and a tall plant stands in the corner by the window.

from / with

from marks origin or viewpoint; with introduces an accompanying feature or covering

From Maya's desk, you can see the yellow area; the office chair is covered with black mesh.

against / along / in the middle of

A desk stands against the green wall, windows run along the back of the room, and a woman moves a chair in the middle of the office.

Konuşma

maya The short questionnaire says people who choose deep blue value calm routines. Does that sound accurate for your team?

owen It says that we prefer predictable work, but that is only partly accurate. We changed the launch plan three times last week.

maya So the label does not match the evidence completely. What about the orange result?

owen According to the result, orange suggests social confidence. That fits our host, but colour choice alone cannot prove personality.

maya I agree. We can use the results to start a conversation, then ask for real examples.

owen That is more accurate than treating the test as a diagnosis.

Cümle yapısı

What should the final paragraph add?

It should evaluate the room and explain why its details matter, not merely repeat the furniture list.

Clear organization and reference let the reader construct both the room and its personal meaning.

  • against
  • above
  • inside
  • from
  • comfortable
  • spacious
  • not as…as
  • the darker one

Model: The map room

1. My favourite room is the small map room at my aunt’s guesthouse. It used to be a storage room, but she offered it to me as a temporary office when I started working remotely. I return to it because it feels separate from the busy house without feeling lonely.

2. The room is narrow but surprisingly spacious near the window. Its walls are a muted blue-grey, while the window frame is cream. Afternoon light comes from the west, so the colour becomes warmer as the day ends. From the desk, I can see the roofs around the market square.

3. A simple oak desk stands against the longest wall, with two shallow shelves above it. Old walking maps are kept inside labelled folders, not displayed, because the patterns would make the room look messy. In the corner there is a comfortable green chair, and a small brass lamp sits on a table beside it. A faded red rug lies in the middle of the floor and makes the restrained colours less formal.

4. The room is useful rather than luxurious. Everything has a clear purpose, yet the maps connect my present work with family journeys. That balance is why this quiet room remains more desirable to me than the larger rooms downstairs.

Adjective position and comparison

before a noun; no plural -s

An adjective normally comes before its noun and never takes a plural ending.

They installed powerful computers in a quiet room, not powerfuls computers.

regular comparison

Use -er/-est with short adjectives; final spelling may change.

The green booth is quieter, but the blue booth is the busiest.

more/most and irregular forms

Long adjectives use more/most; good, bad, and far have irregular forms.

The farthest desk has the best view but the worst connection.

not as…as

Use not as + adjective + as to say one thing has a lower degree of a quality.

The yellow chairs are not as comfortable as the green ones.

less/least

Less and least work with adjectives of any length.

The open area is less peaceful, and the kitchen is the least suitable place for calls.

two-syllable -er/-est

These common two-syllable adjectives can take -er and -est.

A narrower table creates a quieter, simpler layout.

a bit / much + comparative

A bit marks a small difference; much marks a large one.

Zone B is a bit brighter but much more stressful.

one / ones or adjective alone

Use one/ones after an adjective to replace a countable noun; an adjective can stand alone when the understood noun is a substance or category.

Of the lamps, choose the white ones; for wall paint, I prefer white.

Bir odayı dört paragrafta anlatma planı

Yazma görevi dört paragrafta 140–180 kelime ister; her paragrafın tek bir görevi vardır. Yukarıdaki örnek metin de bu planı izler:

  • Oda ve onu neden seçtiğiniz: “My favourite room is the small map room at my aunt’s guesthouse.”
  • Genel izlenim, yani büyüklük, renk, ışık ve manzara: “Afternoon light comes from the west, so the colour becomes warmer as the day ends.”
  • Eşyalar ve tam yerleri: “A simple oak desk stands against the longest wall, with two shallow shelves above it.”
  • Değerlendirmeniz, yeni bir liste değil: “The room is useful rather than luxurious.”

Belirsizliği gideren yer edatları

Türkçede “-de” eki birçok durumu karşılar: “masada” hem “on the table” hem “at the table” olabilir, “köşede” de “in the corner” ya da “on the corner”. İngilizcede tam yeri gösteren kelimeyi seçmeniz gerekir:

  • In ya da inside: inside, bir şeyin kapalı bir yerin içinde olduğunu vurgular. “A small plant grows inside a white pot.”
  • On ya da above: on bir yüzeye değer; above daha yukarıdadır, genelde değmez. “A laptop is on the desk, and green lamps hang above the tables.”
  • At ya da in the corner: at a table bir noktadır; in the corner iki duvarın birleştiği yerdir. On the corner genellikle sokak köşeleri içindir.
  • From ya da with: from bakış noktasını, with bir özelliği verir. “From the desk, I can see the roofs around the market square.” “The office chair is covered with black mesh.”
  • Against, along, in the middle of: “A desk stands against the green wall, windows run along the back of the room, and a woman moves a chair in the middle of the office.”

Sıfatlar: yeri ve karşılaştırma

Sıfatlar odaya karakter verir, karşılaştırmalar tarifi görüşe dönüştürür. Türkçedeki “daha” yüzünden “more cheaper” gibi çift karşılaştırma sık görülür; kısa sıfatlarda yalnızca -er yeter.

  • İsimden önce gelir ve çoğul eki almaz: “powerful computers in a quiet room”, “powerfuls computers” değil.
  • Kısa sıfatlarda -er/-est, uzunlarda more/most; good, bad ve far düzensizdir: “The farthest desk has the best view but the worst connection.”
  • Not as … as, daha düşük bir derece için: “The yellow chairs are not as comfortable as the green ones.”
  • Less ve least her uzunlukta sıfatla: “The open area is less peaceful, and the kitchen is the least suitable place for calls.”
  • Küçük fark için a bit, büyük fark için much: “Zone B is a bit brighter but much more stressful.”

Etiketle değil, kanıtla değerlendirin

Son paragraf, destekleyebileceğiniz bir yargı ister. Yukarıdaki konuşmada iki kişi, bir renk anketinin bir ekip hakkında söylediklerini sınıyor. Onların ifadelerini odanız için kullanın:

  • “That is only partly accurate.”
  • “The label does not match the evidence completely.”
  • “That fits our host, but colour choice alone cannot prove personality.”
  • Sonra yargınızın kanıtını verin: “Everything has a clear purpose, yet the maps connect my present work with family journeys.”

Yazmadan önce tartışılacak sorular

Önce sesli cevaplayın; en iyi cevaplarınız dördüncü paragrafınız olur.

  • “Which room do you return to most, and what makes it different?”
  • “Is a bigger room always better?” İki odayı not as … as ya da less ile karşılaştırın.
  • “Can a colour change how you feel in a room, or is that just a label?”

Sık yapılan hatalar

Taslağınızda bunları kontrol edin:

  • Yeri olmayan bir liste: “There is a desk, a chair and a lamp.” Her eşyaya bir yer verin.
  • Oda içi için “on the corner”. Doğrusu “in the corner”.
  • “Comfortables chairs” ya da “more quieter”. Sıfat çoğul olmaz; -er alan sıfatın önüne more gelmez.
  • Belirsiz it ya da one. Önce iki şeyden söz ettiyseniz ismi tekrar edin.
  • Eşyaları yeniden sayan bir son paragraf. Onun yerine odayı değerlendirin.

Günde 10 dakikalık pratik

Yazmadan önce her şeyi sesli söyleyin.

  • 2 dakika: Beş yer kartını dinleyin ve her örneği edatı vurgulayarak tekrar edin.
  • 3 dakika: Bulunduğunuz odayı anlatın: beş eşya, beş farklı edat.
  • 3 dakika: İki odayı üç cümleyle karşılaştırın: biri -er, biri not as … as, biri less ile.

On ile above arasındaki fark nedir?

On bir yüzeye değmek demektir: “A laptop is on the desk.” Above ise daha yukarıda, genelde değmeden demektir: “Green lamps hang above the tables.”

“In the corner” mı, “on the corner” mı?

Oda içinde in the corner denir: “A tall plant stands in the corner by the window.” On the corner genellikle bir sokağın ya da binanın dış köşesi içindir: “The café is on the corner.”

İngilizce bir oda nasıl tarif edilir?

Dört adımda: oda ve onu neden seçtiğiniz; büyüklük, renk, ışık ve manzara; tam yerleriyle eşyalar; ve odanın neden önemli olduğu. Against ve above gibi edatlar ile not as … as gibi karşılaştırmalar tarifi net ve kişisel yapar.
