Some, any, much ya da many? Okul kantini için kısa İngilizce öneri mesajı (A2 Key Bölüm 6)

Bakery Friday: fresh bread, sandwiches and fruit in the canteen, with happy students.

Kantin için 25–40 kelimelik bir öneriyi “I think we should … because …” ile yazmak ve some, any, much, many ile yiyecek kelimelerini doğru kullanmak. A2 Key ve A2 Key for Schools, 11–15 yaş.

Okul yemeği hakkında kısa bir öneri mesajında dört şey olmalı: bir selamlama (“Dear Mr Ross,”), tek ve net bir fikir (“I think we should have a fruit day.”), “because” ile bir gerekçe ve sonda adın. Bu mesajlardaki tipik hatalar yiyecek kelimelerinde çıkar: “a bread” değil “some bread”; olumsuz cümlede ve soruda “any”; sütle “much”, yumurtayla “many”.

Examiner You will hear Amara talking to Mrs Dunn, the canteen manager, about food at school.

Amara Thank you for this interview, Mrs Dunn. Why isn't there any fresh bread in the canteen now?

Woman Some people think students don't like bread, but that isn't true. They love it! And the bakery near the school is still open. The problem is money. Fresh bread is too expensive for us now.

Amara How much money does the canteen have for each student's lunch?

Woman Two pounds. Last year it was three pounds. And a cheese sandwich with fresh bread costs us one pound fifty to make.

Amara So what do students buy now?

Woman We sell a lot of biscuits, but most students buy crisps. There's some fruit too, but not many students choose it.

Amara What would you like to sell?

Woman Not soup. Students don't eat much soup. And we've got salad already. I'd really like to sell cheese sandwiches with fresh bread again.

Amara Can The Loop help? We could ask the students what they want.

Woman Everyone wants bread, Amara! You don't need to ask them. Talk to a bakery first. Then talk to the head teacher.

Amara Good idea. First, I'll ask Zara's dad. He has a bakery!

Cümle yapısı

Write to the head teacher about a healthy food idea.

Dear Mr Bramley, Thanks for Bakery Friday! I think we should have a fruit day on Wednesdays. There isn't much fruit on the menu, and a lot of students want more, because it's healthy. Best wishes, Amara

Amara's message has 37 words. It says thank you, gives one idea, gives a reason and ends with her name.

  • I think we should …
  • because …
  • Best wishes,

  • “Your school wants ideas for the canteen. Write a message to your head teacher, Mr Ross.”
  • “Suggest one new food or drink.”
  • “Say why it is a good idea.”
  • “Say which day it could be on the menu.”
  • “Write 25 words or more.”

Fikir ve gerekçe için kalıplar

“should”, “could” ve “can”den sonra gelen fiil “to” ya da “-s” almaz.

  • Fikir: “I think we should have a fruit day.”, “I think the canteen should sell soup.”
  • Kibar soru: “Could the canteen sell fresh bread?”
  • Gerekçe: “because it’s healthy”, “because students love it”

Örnek mesaj, satır satır

Selamlama ve kapanışla birlikte bu cevap 38 kelime.

  • “Dear Mr Ross,” → selamlama: “Dear”, unvan ve soyadı.
  • “I think the canteen should sell fruit salad.” → 1. madde: tek bir fikir.
  • “There isn’t any fruit on the menu now, and a lot of students want some because it’s healthy.” → 2. madde: gerekçe; içinde “any”, “a lot of” ve “some” var.
  • “Could we have it on Mondays?” → 3. madde: gün, kibar bir soruyla.
  • “Best wishes, Deniz” → kapanış ve adın.

Sayılabilen mi, sayılamayan mı? Dikkat edilecek yiyecek kelimeleri

Sayılabilen isimlerin çoğulu vardır: an egg, two eggs. Sayılamayan isimler “a/an” ve “-s” almaz: “a bread” ya da “breads” değil, “some bread”.

  • Sayılabilen: egg, sandwich, biscuit, apple, vegetable, snack
  • Sayılamayan: bread, butter, cheese, milk, sugar, salt, water, juice, rice, pasta, fruit
  • Miktar ve kaplar: a piece of bread, a glass of milk, a bottle of water, a packet of crisps, a box of biscuits
  • “Fruit” genellikle sayılamaz: “some fruit”, “a piece of fruit”. Tek bir elma “an apple” olur.

Some, any, much, many ve a lot of

Türkçede “çok” much, many ve a lot of’un hepsini karşılar; İngilizcede ismin sayılıp sayılmadığına ve cümlenin türüne bakarak seçersin. “Hiç” ise çoğu zaman “any” olur: “Hiç ekmek yok.” → “There isn’t any bread.” Aşağıdaki kayıtta bir okul kantininin sorumlusu bir öğrencinin sorularını cevaplıyor: “not many students” (çoğul) ama “much soup” (sayılamayan) dediğine dikkat et.

  • Olumlu cümlede, teklif ederken ve isterken “some”: “There are some eggs.” “Can I have some milk?”
  • Olumsuz cümlede ve soruda “any”: “There isn’t any bread.” “Are there any biscuits?”
  • Sayılamayan isimle “much”, çoğunlukla olumsuz cümlede ve soruda: “How much sugar?”
  • Çoğul isimle “many”: “How many eggs?” “Not many students eat soup.”
  • İkisiyle de “a lot of”, özellikle olumlu cümlede: “We eat much bread.” değil, “We eat a lot of bread.”

Student So what do students buy now?

Canteen manager We sell a lot of biscuits, but most students buy crisps. There's some fruit too, but not many students choose it.

Student What would you like to sell?

Canteen manager Not soup. Students don't eat much soup. And we've got salad already. I'd really like to sell cheese sandwiches with fresh bread again.

Tipik hatalar ve doğruları

Bitirince bunları ara (okun solunda hata, sağında doğrusu). Türkçede sayıdan ve “çok”tan sonra isim tekil kalır (“iki yumurta”, “çok öğrenci”); İngilizcede “two eggs”, “a lot of students” yaz. Gerekçeyi de tek başına bırakma: “Because it’s cheap.” cümlesini fikrine bağla.

  • “Can I have a bread?” → “Can I have some bread?”
  • “There isn’t some fruit on the menu.” → “There isn’t any fruit on the menu.”
  • “How many sugar do you want?” → “How much sugar do you want?”
  • “I think we should to sell soup.” → “I think we should sell soup.”
  • “because of it’s healthy” → “because it’s healthy”

Senin 10 dakikalık rutinin

Bu görevi 10 dakikada yaz: 2 dakika plan, 6 dakika yazma, 2 dakika kontrol.

  • “Your class is planning a healthy snack table. Write a note to your teacher, Ms Patel. Suggest one snack, say why and say one food the table shouldn’t have. Write 25 words or more.”
“much” ve “many” doğru yerde mi?

Sırada ne var?

Sıradaki konu yemekten spora geçiyor: bir maçı oynanırken beş cümlede anlatmak. O zamana kadar her öğünde tabağındakiler hakkında “some”, “any” ya da “a lot of” ile bir cümle söyle.

Sık sorulan sorular

“Some” ile “any” arasındaki fark nedir?

“Some” olumlu cümlelerde ve bir şey teklif ederken ya da isterken kullanılır (“Can I have some milk?”). “Any” olumsuz cümlelerde ve çoğu soruda kullanılır (“There isn’t any bread.”).

İngilizcede “bread” sayılabilir mi?

Hayır, sayılamaz: “some bread” de; “a bread” ve “breads” yanlıştır. Saymak için “a piece of bread” ya da “a slice of bread” kullan.

“Much” ne zaman, “many” ne zaman kullanılır?

“Much” sayılamayan isimlerle (“How much milk?”), “many” çoğul isimlerle (“How many eggs?”) gelir. Olumlu cümlelerde ikisinin yerine de “a lot of” daha doğal durur.
