(A2 Key Part 6)

A tidy bedroom and an untidy bedroom side by side.

A2 Key와 A2 Key for Schools Part 6의 손님맞이 이메일: there is와 there are, opposite·next to 같은 위치 표현, 친구가 잘 곳, 모범 이메일, 자주 하는 실수.

우리 집에 대한 짧은 소개(“Our flat is small but comfortable.”), 친구가 잘 곳(“You can sleep in my room.”), 그리고 함께 할 수 있는 일(“We can go swimming.”) A2 Key와 A2 Key for Schools의 읽기·쓰기(Reading and Writing) Part 6에 나오는 유형의 과제로, 25단어 이상 쓰면 되고 30–50단어면 충분해요.

  • “bedroom”, “kitchen” 같은 단어는 알지만 “there is”와 “there are”를 헷갈리거나, 이메일에서 내용 하나를 빠뜨리는 학생.

  • “Your English friend Sam is coming to stay for the weekend. Write an email to Sam.”
  • “Describe your home.”
  • “Say where Sam will sleep.”
  • “Say what you can do together.”
  • “Write 25 words or more.”

내용 1: there is와 there are로 우리 집 소개하기

하나일 때는 “There’s”, 둘 이상일 때는 “There are”를 써요.

We live in a flat on the third floor.”
There’s a big kitchen.”
There are some shops near our building.”
There isn’t a lift.” / “There aren’t any shops in our street.”

“in”, “on”, “under”와 함께 이 다섯 가지를 익혀 두세요.

  • “next to”: “The bathroom is next to your room.”
  • “opposite” (마주 보는 반대편, 주로 길 건너편): “There’s a park opposite our flat.”
  • “between”: “The sofa is between the window and the door.”
  • “behind”: “There’s a garden behind the house.”
  • “in front of” (앞쪽, 가까운 곳): “There’s a bus stop in front of our building.”

많은 활동이 “go” + -ing 형태예요: go swimming, go shopping.

  • “You can sleep in my room. I can sleep on the sofa.”
  • “We can play basketball in the park opposite.”
  • “We can go swimming. There’s a pool next to my school.”

  • “Hi Sam, I’m so happy you’re coming!” →
  • “We live in a small flat with two bedrooms and a balcony.” →
  • “You can sleep in my room, and I can sleep on the sofa.” → 내용 2: Sam이 잘 곳.
  • “There’s a pool opposite our building, so we can go swimming.” →
  • “See you on Saturday! Deniz” →

“There are some”, “Is there a …? Yes, there is.”, “behind”, “next to”를 들어 보세요.

Zara Where's your desk, Theo? I can't see it.

Theo It's there, behind those plants. There are some papers on it.

Zara And is there a lamp?

Theo Yes, there is. It's on the floor, next to the bed.

  • “There is two bedrooms.” → “There are two bedrooms.”
  • “In my room is a desk.” → “There’s a desk in my room.”
  • “There aren’t some shops.” → “There aren’t any shops.”
  • “We have a lot of furnitures.” → “We have a lot of furniture.”
  • “You can sleep in the sofa.” → “You can sleep on the sofa.”

  • “Your English cousin is coming to stay for a week. Write an email. Say what your bedroom is like, where your cousin can put their clothes and what you can do in your town. Write 25 words or more.”
  • 확인: 하나는 “There’s”, 여럿은 “There are”? 25단어 이상이고 이름도 있나요?

A2 Key Part 6

“there is”와 “there are”는 언제 쓰나요?

“There is”는 하나이거나 셀 수 없는 명사 앞에 써요(“There isn’t much furniture.”). “there are”는 둘 이상일 때 써요(“There are two bedrooms.”).

“opposite”와 “in front of”는 어떻게 다른가요?

“in front of”는 어떤 것의 앞쪽, 가까운 곳이에요. “opposite of our flat”이 아니라 “opposite our flat”이라고 해요.
