A rooftop reading corner contains a small handmade bench under a young tree, with four poem picture panels showing measure, tap, lift and rest.

각 줄은 여덟 음절과 강한 박자 네 개로 이루어지고, 두 줄씩 각운을 맞춥니다: “Measure the wood and mark each side.” 쓰기 전에는 “Have you ever…?”, “for”, “since”로 자신이 만들어 본 것을 이야기합니다.

  • 너무 쉬운 경우: 각운이 맞는 줄을 이미 쓰고 “for”와 “since”를 바르게 쓴다면 “just”, “already”, “yet”을 다루는 A2 글로 넘어가세요.

FOUR BEATS FOR A BENCH

Measure the board with a careful eye.

Tap in a nail while the birds pass by.

Lift with a friend; keep the long rope tight.

Rest on the bench in the evening light.

Each line carries a clear action and a steady beat. The repeated rhythm helps a listener follow the building sequence.

MEAsure the WOOD and MARK each SIDE.

  • Measure the wood and mark each side. (8)
  • Hammer each nail with steady pride. (8)
  • Lift with a friend; keep rope pulled tight. (8)
  • Rest on the bench in evening light. (8)

“Rest on the bench in evening light”는 일곱 단어지만 여덟 음절입니다.

Lift the heavy box”.

  • -ide: side, pride, wide
  • -ight: tight, light, bright
  • -ail: nail, tail, trail

만든 경험 말하기: “Have you ever…?”, for와 since

현재완료(have + 과거분사)는 살면서 언제든 해 본 경험을 묻습니다: “Have you ever built something useful?” 대답은 “Yes, I have.” 또는 “No, I haven’t.”이고, 한 번도 해 보지 않았다면 “never”를 씁니다: “I have never used a saw alone.”

과거에 시작해서 지금도 계속되는 일에는 기간과 함께 “for”, 시작한 때와 함께 “since”를 씁니다: “for two weeks”(2주 동안), “since ten o’clock”(10시부터). ‘부터’를 그대로 옮겨 “We have been here from ten o’clock.”

Nia Have you ever built something useful?

Leo Yes, I have. I have worked on this stand for two weeks.

Nia How long have we been here?

Leo We have been here since ten o’clock.

  • 도구 단어: hammer(망치), nail(못), saw(톱), tape measure(줄자), roller(롤러), rope(밧줄), tray(쟁반)

Leo Which objects did we put away?

Nia First the tape measure, then the roller, and finally the hammer.

첫째 날, 20분: “Have you ever made something useful?”

  • “I have worked here since two weeks.”: “for two weeks”
  • “I am here since ten o’clock.”: “I have been here since ten o’clock.”
  • “Have you ever build…?”: “Have you ever built…?”
  • “I have ever used a saw.”: “I have used a saw.”

다음 문법 단계는 “just”, “already”, “yet”입니다: “I have just painted the shelf.” “Have you finished yet?”

“for”와 “since”는 어떻게 다른가요?

“for”는 기간과 함께 씁니다: for two weeks, for an hour. “since”는 시작한 때와 함께 씁니다: since ten o’clock, since Monday.
