A woman welcomes a visitor while a colleague stands beside her.

“Good morning. You must be Ms Rahman. Sales is expecting you.” “So the meeting starts at nine thirty?”

  • “report to”(〜の直属である、〜に報告する) – “The purchasing manager reports to the operations director.”
名詞か -ing を続ける) – “I’m responsible for welcoming visitors.”
  • “be in charge of”(〜を取り仕切る) – “Tom is in charge of the afternoon tour.”
  • “work closely with”(〜と緊密に連携する) – “Sales works closely with Logistics on urgent orders.”

“You must be …”

Maya Good morning. You must be Ms Rahman.

Ms Rahman Yes. I have a nine-thirty appointment with Tom Novak in Sales.

Maya Welcome to Northline. May I check your badge?

Ms Rahman Of course.

Maya Sales is expecting you. Would you like coffee first?

Ms Rahman No, thank you. I'm ready to go up.

who、what、when、which の疑問文

“Who meets her at reception?”(誰が彼女を受付で迎えますか)と “Who does she meet first?”(彼女は最初に誰に会いますか)を比べてみましょう。

  • “Who is the visitor?” – 人
  • “What does she need?” – もの
  • “When does the tour start?” – 時間
  • “Which department does she need?” –

“Could you tell me …” や “Do you know …”

  • “Where is Reception?” → “Could you tell me where Reception is?”
  • “When does the tour start?” → “Do you know when the tour starts?”
  • “Does she need a badge?” → “Do you know if she needs a badge?”

  • “So the meeting starts at nine thirty?”
  • “Did you say the warehouse tour?”
  • “Let me check the visitor’s surname.”
  • 答え方:“Yes, that’s right.” または “Not quite. It’s at eleven.”

A buyer arrives at 09:20 for a 09:30 appointment.”
She meets Sales first and tours the warehouse at 11:00.”
Sales hosts the meeting, the warehouse team leads the tour and the managing director hosts lunch.”
The office coordinator.”
Send the final schedule to all three hosts by 17:00 the day before.”

  • “When the tour starts?” “When does the tour start?”
  • “Could you tell me where is Reception?” “… where Reception is?”
  • “She reports at the director.” “She reports to the director.”
  • “I have an appointment to the sales manager.” “an appointment with the sales manager”

  • 2分:“report to” と “be responsible for” を使って、自分のチームを4文で説明します。

You must be Ms “Sales is expecting you.”

“Could you tell me where is Reception?” と “where Reception is?”

“Could you tell me where Reception is?”

“responsible for” と “in charge of” の違いは何ですか?

“I’m responsible for visitor safety.” “She’s in charge of the tour.”
