Viewpoint 1 - Sharing a workspace

と“what next?”

ルールは、誰がいつ何をするかを示す現在形の1文で書きましょう:“Finance uses the quiet zone for Tuesday and Thursday payroll checks.” 計画は観察した事実で裏づけ(“Noise complaints fell from nine to two during the two-week trial.”)、まだ解決していない問題もはっきり書きます。

Viewpoint 1 - Sharing a workspace

A six-person design team shares one studio with a four-person finance team for three months. Designers need a project wall and two hours of lively discussion each morning; Finance needs quiet for payroll checks on Tuesday and Thursday. A two-week trial creates a quiet zone, books the project wall from ten to twelve and uses headphones for individual calls. Noise complaints fall from nine to two, but desk availability remains tight, so the teams keep the rules and review capacity after one month.

  • “Quiet work: Finance uses the quiet zone for Tuesday and Thursday payroll checks.”:
  • “Collaboration: Designers book the project wall from 10:00 to 12:00.”:デザイナーは10時から12時までプロジェクト用の壁を予約します。
  • “Calls: Everyone uses headphones for individual calls.”:
  • “Review: Measure complaints and desk availability after one month.”:1
  • “Owner and timing: The office manager shares the figures with both teams at the end of the month.”:

作業には命令文(“Measure complaints after one month.”)、約束には“will”を使いましょう。

時間帯には“from … to …”、毎週の曜日には“on Tuesdays and Thursdays”を使います。

  • あいまい:“Designers can talk in the morning.” 明確:“Designers book the project wall from 10:00 to 12:00.”
  • あいまい:“Be quiet for Finance.” 明確:“Finance uses the quiet zone on Tuesdays and Thursdays for payroll checks.”
  • あいまい:“We check later.” 明確:“The office manager measures desk availability after one month.”

日本語の「9件から2件に減った」は“fell from nine to two”と同じ形です。

Noise complaints fell from nine to two during the two-week trial.”
  • 限界:“However, desk availability is still tight.”
So we will keep the quiet-zone and wall-booking rules.”
We will review desk capacity after one month.”

Maya Which observed fact should guide our plan?

Owen Noise complaints fell from nine to two during the two-week trial.

Maya So what should we do next?

Owen Keep the quiet-zone and wall-booking rules, then review desk capacity after one month.

“Why this rule?”には根拠で答えます:“Because complaints fell from nine to two when we tested it.” “What happens next?”には担当者と時期で答えます:“Our office manager will measure desk availability after one month.” 最後に、“Designers use the wall in the morning.”

  • “The main evidence is …”:主な根拠は…です。
  • “One problem remains: …”:1
  • “We don’t know that yet, so we will …”:まだわからないので、…

  • “Complaints fell of nine to two.” “from … to …”
  • “Between 10:00 to 12:00.” “between 10:00 and 12:00”か“from 10:00 to 12:00”と言います。
  • “The trial solved the problem.” 測定したことだけを主張しましょう:“The trial reduced complaints, but desks are still tight.”
  • “Owner: everyone.”

  • 2分:“from … to …”、“however”、“so”を使って根拠、限界、決定を書きます。
  • 2分:“Why this rule?”と“What happens next?”
  • 週1回の話し合いの質問:“Should shared-office rules be strict, or should teams solve problems as they appear?”(共有オフィスのルールは厳しくするべきでしょうか。

運用ルールを現在形で書き、理由を添えましょう:“Finance uses the quiet zone on Tuesdays and Thursdays for payroll checks.”

“fell to”と“fell by”はどう違いますか?

“Complaints fell from nine to two.”

“still”か“remain”を使います:“Desk availability is still tight.” または “Desk capacity remains a problem.” そのあとに次のステップを添えましょう:“We will review it after one month.”
