“He’s from Brazil.” “He’s Brazilian.”
- -ian または -an: Brazil – Brazilian, Mexico – Mexican, the United States – American, Italy – Italian, Russia – Russian, Egypt – Egyptian, Germany – German
- -ish: the United Kingdom – British, England – English, Spain – Spanish, Turkey – Turkish, Poland – Polish
- -ese: China – Chinese, Japan – Japanese
France – French, Switzerland – Swiss
are を使った質問:we、you、they
we、you、they と使う be 動詞はいつも are です。 “They are Brazilian.” が “Are they Brazilian?” “Are Nina and Leo Brazilian?”
- “We are late.”
- “You are British.” → “Are you British?”(you は1人にも複数にも使えます)
- “They are on holiday.” → “Are they on holiday?”(彼らは休暇中ですか?)
短い答え方:“Yes, they are.” と “No, they aren’t.”
“Yes, they are.” は正しく、“Yes, they’re.” they’re、we’re、I’m 否定の答えは “No, they aren’t.” と “No, they’re not.”
- “Are they French?” – “Yes, they are.” / “No, they aren’t.”
- “Are you Spanish?” (2人に) – “Yes, we are.” / “No, we aren’t.”
- “Are you British?” (1人に) – “Yes, I am.” / “No, I’m not.”
- “Are we late?” – “No, you aren’t.” / “No, you’re not.”
“No.”
Maya Are Nina and Leo Brazilian?
Owen No, they aren't. Nina is Mexican, and Leo is American.
Maya Are you British?
Owen Yes, I am. I'm from London.
“Where are they from?”
- “Where are you from?” – “I’m from Poland.” / “I’m Polish.”
- “Where are they from?” – “They’re from Japan. They’re Japanese.”
- “Where’s she from?” – “She’s from Egypt. She’s Egyptian.”
- Japan (ja-PAN) → Japanese (ja-pa-NESE)
- China (CHI-na) → Chinese (chi-NESE)
- Italy (IT-a-ly) → Italian (i-TAL-ian)
- Egypt (E-gypt) → Egyptian (e-GYP-tian)
- “I’m Japan.” “I’m Japanese.” または “I’m from Japan.”
- “Yes, they’re.” “Yes, they are.”
- “Are Brazilian?” “Are they Brazilian?”
- “They are Japaneses.” “They are Japanese.”、“They are British.”
“Brazil, Brazilian. Mexico, Mexican.”
“Are they Spanish? No, they aren’t. He’s Italian, and she’s French.”
“My colleagues are Japanese.” “My neighbours aren’t British.”
“How old is he?” – “He’s twenty-two.”、そして “What’s your phone number?” fifteen と fifty のように似た音の数字を練習しましょう。 “Is this your bag?” – “No, it isn’t.”
