Flalingo Reviews: What The Lessons Actually Look Like

Our Google rating is 4.9 out of 5, based on 632 reviews. So here is what sits behind it: thirteen reviews written by people who paid for lessons, published here word for word, each one linked back to the page it came from so you can read it where it was written.

Nothing has been edited or trimmed to sound better. One reviewer states plainly that we cost more than other platforms, and that review is in here with our answer under it. Another liked her first homework format better than the one that replaced it. Also in here.

The reviews are grouped by what they keep returning to, such as how teachers are matched, what happens when you keep the same one, what a lesson looks like, the materials, the AI report that arrives afterwards, the price, and exam preparation. Everything we say about how Flalingo works sits directly under the review that raised it.

Being Matched With a Teacher

The hard part of starting online English is choosing one. Most platforms hand you a search bar and several thousand profiles, all of which look reasonable, and leave the rest to you.

It's a truly fantastic app, and most importantly, very useful. The AI-powered, personalized tutor assignments are a great feature. You can choose the tutor that best suits your needs from among those assigned to you. There are also group classes on various topics, which you can join. The tutors are very knowledgeable and helpful; I wholeheartedly recommend it. Reaching customer service is also very easy; they are quick and solution-oriented. Thank you.

First of all, I did extensive research before choosing this app. I've even used it on other apps, but Flalingo truly stands out in many ways. Most importantly, you can accompany your chosen tutor until the end of the training. This means you don't have to deal with a different tutor each time. Artificial intelligence uses very detailed analyses, and these truly work. All of the tutors are certified educators. They not only possess native language skills but also have certifications to teach. Artificial intelligence and tutor matching suggest the perfect match for you.

Both reviews describe the same system from different angles. When you sign up, Smart Matching collects 18 data points, such as your level from the placement test, what you want the English for, the hours you can genuinely make, the accent you want to hear, even the kind of teacher you respond to (patient, energetic, analytical). Those become a profile vector. Teacher skills and traits are described on the same axes, and a hybrid of cosine similarity and hierarchical priority, where goal fit outranks schedule fit and schedule fit outranks accent preference, produces a shortlist of 22 to 30 teachers. Eda notices the part that matters: the algorithm narrows, you still choose.

İrfan's line about certification is the one we would underline. One in every 73 teachers who applies to Flalingo is accepted. Native fluency alone gets nobody in, because speaking a language and teaching it are different jobs. Applicants go through multiple interviews, a sample lesson, a pedagogical assessment and a technical check before they ever meet a student. This is usually the real question behind Flalingo vs Preply: an open marketplace optimises for the size of the catalogue. We optimise for a short list you can pick from without doing your own research first.

Flalingo Reviews: What The Lessons Actually Look Like

The Same Teacher, Week After Week

Two students, different tenures, same feature.

I've been using it for 9-10 months. I took 25-minute lessons three times a week. I've missed about a lesson or two so far. I initially started with speaking B1. Now, I'm between B2 and C1. After trying a few instructors, I found the perfect teacher and continued with them. Unlike other platforms, it's very good at finding the same teacher and staying with the same teacher. If you take lessons from different instructors, you have to talk about the same things over and over again, getting to know each other over and over again. Of course, this is also a preference, but for me, it's more beneficial to continue discussing various topics with one instructor. I think it's best to take the first step before delaying. Start today so you don't wish you'd started today a year from now.

I have been using Flalingo for about three months, and during this time it has been the language learning platform where I have felt the most disciplined and motivated. So far, I haven't had any negative experiences; in particular, the customer support being consistently accessible, friendly, and solution-oriented is a major advantage. They truly focus on helping you and ensuring your satisfaction in every situation you encounter.

The ability to continue the learning process with a teacher you like and feel comfortable with has been one of the most important factors that kept me engaged with the platform. Thanks to this structure, I have been able to make the learning process enjoyable. The materials are mainly focused on speaking practice, and class time is used very efficiently.

Based on my own experience, I can confidently say that I am satisfied with Flalingo. I plan to continue learning and practicing.

Ömer went from B1 to somewhere between B2 and C1 in three 25-minute lessons a week. We cannot promise anyone that curve; his attendance record explains most of it. What we can promise is that the platform is built so that this choice is possible. Teacher continuity is treated as a planning metric. A teacher's weekly load and the hours they open are fed back into who gets recommended to you, so a student who wants the same teacher again finds them more than 90% of the time.

A teacher who has met you before doesn’t spend the first five minutes learning your name and your job, and doesn’t have to rediscover that you avoid the present perfect. It also shows up in the data because the FLAI reports start reading as a curve rather than a series of unrelated snapshots. Anyone weighing Flalingo vs Cambly is really choosing between availability and memory. While a stranger who is free right now solves one problem, a teacher who remembers last week solves a different one.

Thanks to Flalingo, my English learning process is progressing much more systematically and efficiently. I am especially pleased to be working with my teacher, Murat A. He is a very punctual, disciplined instructor who truly cares about his students' development. He regularly follows up on my lessons and assignments, and carefully focuses on the areas where I need improvement.
His teaching style is very clear, understandable, and instructive. He patiently explains things I don't understand, corrects my mistakes one by one, and explains in detail why they are wrong and how to use them correctly. Thanks to this, my self-confidence has increased, and I have started using English more accurately and consciously.
Each lesson is planned, efficient, and motivating. I have clearly felt my progress in a short time. I sincerely thank Flalingo for the quality education it provided and my valuable teacher, Murat A., for his efforts, patience, attention, and professionalism. I wholeheartedly recommend Flalingo, and especially my teacher Murat A., to anyone who wants to learn English or improve their level.
I am also very pleased with the 24/7 fast customer service support.

Flalingo language platform is establishing itself firmly in the digital language learning world, particularly with its approach centered on speaking practice. It has a system that takes seriously the idea that “language is learned by living,” without overwhelming learners with theory. Thanks to its live lesson model, learners move beyond being passive listeners and begin to actually use the language. This is a crucial difference. The instructor team is strong and selective. Working one-on-one or in small groups with native English speakers or teachers with advanced fluency is far more efficient than the artificial dialogues found in traditional applications. The ability to schedule lessons at flexible times is also a clear advantage for busy professionals and teachers. It doesn't burden the user with time management; it supports them. The platform's user-friendly interface increases learning motivation. You don't waste time thinking about what to do; you log in and start the lesson. The content's relevance to daily life ensures that the language is taught within a real context. It's not “exam English,” but real-life English.

In short, Flalingo is a practical, goal-oriented language learning platform that captures the spirit of the times. It's disciplined but not stifling, modern but not outdated. A reliable haven for those who say they want to learn a language and genuinely want to speak it. You can choose the same teachers, schedule your appointments as you wish, request lessons from teachers, etc.

While İlayda describes one teacher correcting a mistake and then explaining why it was a mistake, Fatma describes the same habit at the platform level. A Flalingo lesson has a shape: a warm-up, one target structure, guided speaking, a short piece of reading or writing, and closing feedback the student can act on before the next lesson. Teachers adapt it to the person in front of them, but they don’t skip it, and the Flalingo Method is where that expectation is written down.

Getting hired is not the end of the assessment. Student satisfaction scores, lesson attendance and the objective analysis FLAI produces after every lesson are reviewed continuously, and teachers who fall below the standard leave the platform. It is a blunt policy. We keep it because the alternative is a roster nobody has checked since the day they were hired, and students find that out one wasted month at a time.

Speaking When You Are Afraid To Speak

The most common thing students tell us isn’t that grammar is hard. It is that the first lesson felt like a job interview conducted in a language they were still learning.

It's so helpful and fun. I think the best part is being able to continue with the same teacher. We chat together, play games, and study from the textbook in a lesson format. And so much more. I'll never forget the excitement and stress I felt when I first started my lesson. It was so unnecessary. The teacher engaged me as if I were his regular student and it wasn't my first experience, and I had no problems. As an added bonus, after assessing my level in the first lesson, I was given assignments in the form of tasks. After the subsequent lessons, these were changed to a quiz format. This was also very helpful, but for me, the other one was more enjoyable.

The first lesson does two things at once. Your teacher runs a level check while you talk, and you get through it without particularly noticing that you were assessed. The answer to Eda’s stress was not encouragement. It was structure: the teacher already knew what they were going to ask her, and in what order.

Her second point is a criticism, and we will take it as one. Her homework arrived as tasks first, then switched to quizzes, and she preferred the tasks. Flomework builds exercises from the mistakes FLAI actually found in your lesson, across four formats. The format is chosen by what you got wrong, not by what you enjoy, and the difficulty moves with your last score. That trade-off is real, and she is right to name it.

This is also where the Flalingo vs Duolingo comparison usually goes wrong. It gets framed as gamification versus seriousness. The actual difference is smaller and harder. On one hand, an app can drill you for a year without ever hearing you hesitate; on the other hand, a person hears the hesitation, stops, and asks the question again more slowly.

Oxford Materials, and Where The Curriculum Is Going

My English learning experience with Flalingo has been a wonderful experience. They use Oxford textbooks in their materials and follow a systematic, well-rounded, and fun approach to grammar and speaking. The instructors' attentiveness and expertise allow us to have enjoyable lessons without being boring. We can experience a casual speaking experience, and we can also follow grammar exercises from Oxford materials, from beginner to advanced levels. I highly recommend Flalingo to anyone looking to learn and improve their language skills.

We use Oxford University Press materials because a speaking platform without a spine becomes a pleasant weekly chat with a level that hasn’t moved since March. Levels follow the CEFR scale, so B1 means the same thing inside our system as it does on a job application, and every level has a defined end you can actually reach.

Seda describes both halves of the platform, which is the intended use. Course Mode gives you the book, the sequence and the homework, with the Oxford exercises attached to whatever you covered that week. Relax Mode drops the book and keeps the conversation, which is what most people want after a long working day. You can switch between them, and plenty of students run one mode on weeknights and the other on Saturdays.

The Report That Lands After The Lesson

I had been looking for an online language learning app for a long time and finally came across Flalingo. I've been attending classes with great interest and excitement for about 5 months now, and I never thought I would be so satisfied.

Because I'm usually shy and introverted, I was very afraid that I wouldn't be able to continue with the classes. But thanks to Flalingo and my instructors here, I overcame this fear. The teachers are very attentive and professional, and the learning materials are also of high quality.

The app is very easy to use. You get an AI-powered progress report after each lesson, and the flexible scheduling options make the whole process much easier. The weekly group classes you can join are also incredibly fun.

Another feature I love about Flalingo is their customer service team, who are always kind, helpful, and supportive. They never let you down and are truly dedicated to helping you. I will never hesitate to renew my membership. Thank you so much for everything.

The report Melek mentions is FLAI. It transcribes the lesson, then reads it back on three axes.

  • Accuracy: tense errors, wrong prepositions, broken sentence structures, each shown as the sentence you said next to the one you meant.
  • Fluency: words per minute, how often you paused, how many filler words you leaned on.
  • Lexical resource: which CEFR band your vocabulary is sitting in, and which words would move it up.

You get three things to do before the next lesson. Your teacher gets the pattern behind them. Flomework then turns the same data into practice. Grammar Repair for the structures you broke, Vocabulary Boost for the words you kept reaching for and missing, Shadow Lesson where you rebuild a sentence you got wrong and say it out loud again. Attend, read the report, do the short practice, speak.

The Honest Part: What It Costs

Rehim Ahmedli Google Review

Although the price is higher than other online language learning platforms, the quality of the lessons, teachers, and platform is high. Also, the price per hour paid is more affordable. Choosing 3 lessons per week helps you to attend the lessons regularly and increases your “mobility” by choosing the time that suits you.
Just before subscribing, specify why you want this program (ielts, speaking, business, etc.) because this will help you achieve your goal.
If you are a student or have a priority situation, it will be organized for you in the end.
The 2 main provisions that I like the most are the individual approach of the teachers to you and having both a “native” and academic level in English.
Good luck!

He is right, and we aren’t going to dress it up. Flalingo costs more than some of the other subscription platforms, and if you are ranking the best online English courses by monthly price alone, we lose that column. What the price pays for is the part that is hard to see on a pricing page: a teacher who passed a 1-in-73 selection, Oxford University Press materials, an analysis of every lesson you take, and a human education consultant who reads it.

His second observation is where the real arithmetic happens. Packages are built from lesson length, weekly frequency and subscription duration, and the hourly cost drops as frequency and duration go up, which is why three lessons a week are priced very differently from one. Regularity is also what makes the lessons work, so the cheaper hour and the better outcome happen to point in the same direction.

And his advice is better than most of the onboarding copy we have written ourselves. Say what you want the English for before you subscribe, whether that is IELTS, work, interviews, or simply speaking without freezing, because that is the input Smart Matching runs on. A vague goal produces a vague teacher list.

Preparing For an Exam

I chose Flalingo to prepare for the IELTS speaking test. The instructors are very attentive. You can continue the program in relaxed mode or by joining a course. I chose relaxed mode and I'm doing IELTS-focused speaking practice with my instructor. I'm very happy with using this platform. I recommend Flalingo to everyone.

I enrolled in the Flalingo three-month IELTS speaking course. When I review my course recordings, the progress I've seen is incredible. I've had the opportunity to learn with many instructors, and I'm very pleased with each one, but I'm even more pleased with one instructor. I'm very grateful to him, and I'm also grateful to the Flalingo family for giving me this opportunity. They have a great support team, and if you have any questions, you can get help from them within a minute.

My English speaking skills tend to get rusty during periods when I don't use the language. I started using Flalingo to overcome this, and I'm so satisfied that I've already renewed my subscription. I also relied on them while preparing for my English proficiency exams. The tutors, Educational Support Specialists, and the Customer Support team all work to ensure you get the maximum benefit out of the process. 5/5

Teachers are tagged by exam. An IELTS specialist has taught the speaking test enough times to know what a Part 2 monologue sounds like at band 6 and what has to change for band 7, and they arrive with the materials for it. TOEFL, YDS and OET specialists are tagged the same way. When you tell Smart Matching your goal is an exam, those are the teachers you see, which is also why Furkan could choose between joining a structured course and staying in relaxed mode with IELTS-focused speaking practice. Both routes exist. The specialist is the constant.

On exams.flalingo.com, you can sit timed mini mocks and full simulations, and the feedback comes back against the score you are targeting rather than as general praise. The three axes FLAI measures line up with the criteria an examiner applies. You can read the official wording in the British Council’s IELTS Speaking Band Descriptors. When FLAI counts your pauses and your filler words, it is measuring the first of those four, and when it maps your vocabulary against CEFR bands, it is measuring the second.

Neslihan does something we wish more candidates did, which is going back through her lesson recordings. Progress in speaking is almost impossible to feel from the inside; you notice it when you hear yourself in March and again in June. Rasim names the layer people forget about entirely. Your Educational Support Specialist reads your reports, your attendance and your target date, and tells you what to change before the exam date does it for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Flalingo worth the price?

It depends on how often you take lessons and how much of the system you use. The hourly cost falls sharply at three lessons a week, and the price includes certified teachers, Oxford University Press materials, a FLAI report after every lesson and an education consultant.

Can I keep the same teacher for every lesson?

Yes, and this is the feature reviewers mention most. Teacher continuity is built into the scheduling algorithm, so a student who wants the same teacher again finds them more than 90% of the time. You can also try several teachers first and settle later, which is what some of our students do before staying with one for nine months.

How does Flalingo match me with a teacher?

Smart Matching collects 18 data points at sign-up: level, goal, available hours, accent preference, and the teaching personality you respond to. Your profile is compared against teacher profiles on the same axes, with goal fit weighted above schedule fit and schedule fit above accent. You then get a shortlist of 22 to 30 matched teachers and choose from it yourself.

What is FLAI, and what does the report actually show?

FLAI is the AI coach that analyses each lesson after it ends. It reports on accuracy (tense, prepositions, sentence structure, with your own sentences as examples), fluency (words per minute, pauses, filler words) and lexical resource (vocabulary range against CEFR levels). You get three actions to work on. Your teacher gets the underlying pattern, and Flomework turns your mistakes into exercises.

Are Flalingo teachers native speakers or certified teachers?

Both, and the second is the requirement. One in 73 applicants is accepted, and native fluency on its own is not enough: candidates pass interviews, a sample lesson, a pedagogical assessment and a technical check. Teachers are then monitored on satisfaction scores, attendance and FLAI data, and those who drop below standard leave the platform.

Can Flalingo help with IELTS speaking preparation?

Yes. Teachers carry exam specialisations, so an IELTS-focused search returns instructors who teach the speaking test regularly. You can take timed mini mocks and full simulations on exams.flalingo.com, and FLAI reports on fluency, vocabulary range and accuracy, the same dimensions the examiner scores. What nobody can promise you is a specific band. That depends on how often you practise.
