At a community cinema ticket desk, two children compare a matinee and evening performance using clock, seat and price pictures; an adult clerk stands behind the desk.

9–12세 아이(A2)가 영어로 “What time does it start?”

영어로 공연에 대해 물을 때 아이들은 “What time does it start?”라고 묻고 현재 시제(present simple)로 답합니다: “It starts at seven.” 공연이 매진되면 다른 공연을 제안하고(“Can we see the evening performance, not the matinee?”) 그것을 확인합니다: “Are there any seats left for that?”

  • 간단한 질문을 묻고 답할 수 있는 아이의 부모님: 아이가 “Where is it?”이나 “How much is it?”

핵심 질문은 “What time does it start?” “It will start at seven.”

에는 “does” 같은 말이 없어서 아이들이 “What time it starts?” 같은 모양으로 “When does it finish?”

Nia What time does it start?

Leo It starts at seven.

At, on, in: 시각, 요일, 날짜

순서는 “at seven on Friday”도 “on Friday at seven”도 괜찮습니다. “in the evening”이지만 “on Friday evening”이라는 점도 기억하세요.

  • at: at seven, at half past six
  • on: on Saturday, on 18 October
  • in: in October, in the afternoon

Leo The matinee is sold out.

Nia Can we see the evening performance, not the matinee?

Leo Are there any seats left for that?

Nia Yes. The clerk says two seats are left.

“Are there any seats left?” 대답에는 숫자나 “no”가 들어갑니다: “There are two seats left.”, “There are no seats left.” 확인할 때는 내용을 되풀이합니다: “So that’s two seats for Saturday at three?” “Yes, that’s right.”

FILM NIGHT”
MOON GARDEN: a new mystery film”
Starring Lily Park and Omar Hayes”
Community Hall · Friday 18 October · 7:00 p.m.”
Tickets: €5 · Book at the library desk.”

가족 한 명이 손님처럼 묻습니다: “Where is it?”, “How much are the tickets?”, “How do I book?” You can book at the library desk.”

아이는 시간을 묻고, 마티네가 매진이라는 말을 듣고, 저녁 공연을 제안하고, 남은 자리가 있는지 물은 뒤 이렇게 확인합니다: “So that’s two seats for seven o’clock?”

  • “What time it starts?”: 질문에는 “does”가 필요합니다: “What time does it start?”
  • “What time does it starts?”: “does” 뒤에는 -s를 붙이지 않습니다: “What time does it start?”
  • “It start at seven.”: “it”과 함께라면 -s를 붙입니다: “It starts at seven.”
  • “Is there any seats left?”: “seats”는 복수라서 “are”를 씁니다: “Are there any seats left?”

The matinee was sold out, so we booked the evening show.”

MAT-i-nay.

“It starts at seven”인가요, “It will start at seven”인가요?

“It will start at seven.”
