Two friends compare evidence about a family or career decision.

Un resultado lleva una cifra: “average response time has fallen from nine days to four.”

Dear Ms Rahman,

I am writing to apply for the fixed-term Community Partnerships Manager post advertised on your website.

I currently coordinate a regional mentoring programme, where I manage eight partner organizations and a network of sixty volunteers. Over the past year, I have introduced a shared referral process; consequently, average response time has fallen from nine days to four.

The role particularly interests me because it combines partnership work with service design. My experience of chairing difficult meetings and translating research into practical guidance would allow me to contribute quickly, while the programme’s evaluation focus would extend my analytical skills.

I have attached my CV and would welcome the opportunity to discuss the post. I am available for interview from 12 June and can provide two references.

Yours sincerely,

Maya Singh

“I am writing to apply for the fixed-term analyst post.”
“In my current post, where I coordinate six partners, I have introduced a shared schedule over the past year.”
  • Motivación y aportación: “The post particularly interests me because it combines research and delivery.” “My mediation experience would allow me to contribute quickly.”
  • Cierre: adjuntos, disponibilidad y el siguiente paso. “I would welcome the opportunity to discuss the role.”

  • Tarea: “Responsible for partner meetings.” Logro: “Over the past year, I have introduced a shared referral process; consequently, average response time has fallen from nine days to four.”
  • Una oración con where añade contexto sin una segunda frase: “I coordinate a regional mentoring programme, where I manage eight partner organizations.”
Over the past year, I have trained twelve new volunteers.” / “In 2024, I led the move to a new database.”

“As a result, approval now takes two weeks, not six.”
“Despite having a smaller budget, the team met every deadline.”
  • Finalidad: so that + could o would para un resultado en pasado. “I rewrote the handover notes so that new staff could start without supervision.”

  • “I am a highly motivated team player.” Mejor muéstralo: “I chair a monthly meeting of six partners with competing priorities.”
  • “I am very thorough.” Mejor: “My handover checklist stopped the same error recurring.”
  • “I will transform your partnerships.” Mejor: “My experience of chairing difficult meetings would allow me to contribute quickly.”

Maya My draft lists every task I have done.

Owen Select two achievements because relevance is stronger than volume.

Maya I will quantify one result and explain why this organization interests me.

Owen Then edit unsupported praise and defend your choices aloud.

Aprende esta unidad a tu manera

Defiende tus decisiones en voz alta

Cada afirmación invita a una pregunta de entrevista: “How did you measure that result?” “What exactly was your role?” In fact añade un detalle más fuerte: “In fact, the referral process was my proposal, not a management target.”

  • “Is it dishonest to leave out an impressive achievement that does not fit the post?”
  • “Should a covering email explain a career change, or leave it for the interview?”

Errores frecuentes

Revisa estos puntos en tu borrador:

  • “I am writing to apply to the analyst post.” Por influencia de “aplicar a”, es fácil decir apply to; en inglés se dice apply for a post y apply to an organization.
  • “I have led the project in 2023.” Con un momento terminado se usa past simple: “I led the project in 2023.”
  • “I look forward to hear from you.” Aquí to es una preposición: “I look forward to hearing from you.”
  • “Dear Sir or Madam … Yours sincerely.”
  • “Actually, I coordinate a mentoring programme.”

  • 4 minutos: responde en voz alta a “How did you measure that?” sobre tu cifra.

Siguiente paso

Menciona los adjuntos y tu disponibilidad e invita al siguiente paso: “I would welcome the opportunity to discuss the role.”
