A woman meets a colleague and introduces another colleague.

国名は “from” や “in” の後に、国籍は “I’m”、“he’s”、“she’s” の後に置きます。“She’s from Japan.” または “She’s Japanese.” “It’s a Portuguese company. Its head office is in Porto.” “Is your company Portuguese?” – “Yes, it is.”

“I’m from India.”、“Our office is in Poland.” “I’m Indian.”、“It’s a Polish company.”

“the UK”、“the USA”、“the Netherlands” などです。 “He’s from the UK. He’s British.”

“Are you …?” や “Is …?” “Yes, I am.”、“No, she isn’t.”

  • “Are you …?” – “Yes, I am.” / “No, I’m not.”
  • “Is she …?” – “Yes, she is.” / “No, she isn’t.”
  • “Is your company …?” – “Yes, it is.” / “No, it isn’t.”

Owen Are you Maya Cole?

Maya Yes, I am. I'm an operations coordinator.

Owen Is your company Portuguese?

Maya Yes, it is. Its head office is in Porto.

Owen Is Keiko from Poland?

Maya No, she isn't. She's Japanese, but her company is in Poland.

his、her、itsの使い分け

“Our manager is Indian.”

“She’s Japanese, but her company is in Poland.” “its” と “it’s” も区別しましょう。“its” は所有を、“it’s” は “it is” を表します。

  • “His name is Owen. He’s British.”
  • “Her company is Polish.”
  • “Its head office is in Leeds.”
  • “It’s a Portuguese company. Its office is in Porto.”

同僚を紹介するときは “This is my colleague, Keiko.” と言い、相手は “Nice to meet you, Keiko.” “Nice meeting you.” – “You too. Have a good journey.”(こちらこそ。

  • “Name: Maya Cole” – “This is Maya Cole.”
  • “Job: operations coordinator” – “She’s an operations coordinator.”
  • “Nationality: Portuguese” – “She’s Portuguese.”
  • “Company: Portuguese” – “Her company is Portuguese.”
  • “Head office: Porto” – “Its head office is in Porto.”

  • “She’s Japan.” “She’s Japanese.” または “from” を使って “She’s from Japan.”
  • “He’s from UK.” “He’s from the UK.”
“Japanese”、“Polish”
  • “Keiko is from Poland?” “Is Keiko from Poland?”
  • “Yes, it’s.” 短い答えは “Yes, it is.”
  • “It’s head office is in Leeds.”

“I’m from … I’m …”
“This is … She’s … Her company is in …”
“Is your company …?” – “Yes, it is.”

“Japan”、“Poland”、“the UK” などです。 “I’m from Poland.” または “I’m Polish.” と言い、“I’m Poland.”

“Its head office is in Leeds.” “it’s” は “it is” または “it has” の短縮形です。“It’s a British company.” “it is” に置き換えられるなら “it’s” と書きます。

会議の終わりには “Nice to meet you” と “Nice meeting you” のどちらを言いますか?

初めて会ったときは “Nice to meet you.”、別れるときは “Nice meeting you.” または “It was nice to meet you.” どちらにも “You too.”
