Two adults prepare several dishes using different cooking methods.

相手・場所・時間まで決まっている予定には現在進行形(“I’m meeting my family on Sunday.”)、前から決めていることには“going to”(“I’m going to cook in advance.”)、意見・申し出・約束・話しながら決めたことには“will”(“I think we’ll waste less food.”)

Read a balanced response

Two adults prepare several dishes using different cooking methods.

My family currently shares most evening meals, although everyone is working longer hours this month. Cooking together is cheaper and gives us time to talk, but it is not practical every night. My sister is meeting friends for dinner on Thursday, and I am having a late class, so we are going to prepare two meals in advance. Some people think fixed family meals will disappear because schedules are becoming less predictable. I think they will remain valuable, but families will use them more flexibly. We are going to protect Sunday lunch and accept simpler arrangements during the week. I’ll create a shared menu tonight, and I’ll help my brother learn two quick dishes. This plan respects independence while keeping one reliable point of contact.

  • “She eats out on Fridays, but she doesn’t order dessert.” –
  • “More local cafés are offering low-fat dishes.” –
  • 質問:“Do you eat fish?”は習慣を、“Are you trying a new recipe tonight?”
“Owen usually brings lunch, but he is never early on Mondays and eats out once a week.”

“I want a snack, but I don’t need a full meal.” 日本語の「知っている」「持っている」につられて“I’m knowing”“I’m having a car”と言わないようにしましょう。

  • “I think the soup tastes good.”
  • “The chef is tasting it, and we are having lunch.” –

“I’m meeting my family on Sunday”, “I’m going to cook in advance”, “I think we’ll waste less food”。

I’m meeting my half-sister at the station at six.”
My cousin is going to invite the extended family.”
Those tables are unstable; the display is going to fall.”
The award ceremony will be on Thursday, and I think the new venue will work well.”
The printer has stopped. I’ll call the technician.”
I’ll collect your stepmother if you like.” “I’ll bring the cake, and I won’t forget the candles.”
  • “shall”:“Shall I collect the keys?”(申し出)、“Shall we meet at reception?”(いっしょにする提案)。

  • “How often does your household eat together, and is that changing at the moment?”
  • “Do you think family meals will become less common? Why, or why not?”
  • “What are you going to change in your own week, and what have you already arranged?”

Cooking together is cheaper and gives us time to talk, but it is not practical every night.”
Some people think… I think…”

  • 決まった約束に“I will meet my family on Sunday”。自然なのは“I’m meeting my family on Sunday.”です。
  • その場で決めたことに“I call the technician”。“I’ll call the technician.”
  • “I’m knowing the answer.”や“I’m wanting a snack.” 状態動詞は単純形で“I know the answer.”“I want a snack.”

“will”と“going to”の違いは何ですか?

“The display is going to fall.” “I think the new venue will work well.”

“I’m meeting my half-sister at the station at six.”
