Best Online English Courses in Saudi Arabia 2026: 7 Platforms Compared

You read work emails in English with no trouble and reply without reaching for a dictionary. Then the foreign manager switches on the camera in the morning meeting, asks you a direct question, and the words simply go. It happens to a lot of people in Riyadh, Jeddah and Khobar, and it is the reason that searching for the best online English courses in Saudi Arabia has become a practical decision, one tied to work and promotion.
The numbers back up that feeling. In the 2025 EF English Proficiency Index, Saudi Arabia ranked 115th with a score of 404, 13 points down on the previous edition. Riyadh scored 440, Jeddah 427 and Dammam 423. At the same time, English has become part of the Human Capability Development Program under Vision 2030, and the Ministry of Education began teaching it from the first year of primary school in the 2021/2022 academic year. Tourism, entertainment, energy and companies with international partners all want staff who can speak with confidence in meetings and on calls.
For most people, the problem is the speaking itself. A study by Horwitz and colleagues (1986) described "foreign language anxiety": the learner knows the answer but freezes when speaking in front of someone. What eases that anxiety is the right teacher and a comfortable setting, and this is where some distinctly Saudi details come in. Many female learners feel more at ease with a female teacher, some beginners want someone to explain things in Arabic at first, and the weekend falls on Friday and Saturday, on GMT+3. So we didn't compare the platforms on price alone. We put Flalingo, Preply, Cambly, EF English Live, Wall Street English, italki and Fluency through seven criteria and listed every price in riyals.
Short Answer
If you want a regular teacher, a report after every lesson and the choice of a male or female teacher at times that work around Friday and Saturday, Flalingo is the most complete option in 2026. Preply and italki suit learners who want to pick their own tutor and pay by the lesson, Cambly is for conversation with native speakers at any hour, EF English Live and Wall Street English are for those who want a levelled curriculum and a certificate, and Fluency is the local Saudi option.

How Did We Evaluate the Best Online English Courses in Saudi Arabia?
Six of these criteria appear in every Flalingo comparison, and the seventh is specific to Saudi Arabia. That seventh one carried more weight than we expected, because plenty of people drop a course over scheduling or a teacher-selection process that doesn't fit their lives.
Quick Comparison Table: 7 Platforms at a Glance
The first table covers the general criteria and pricing; the second focuses on the Saudi criterion. Prices are approximate and in riyals, and because each platform charges differently (by the month, by the lesson or by custom quote), we have noted the price unit next to each figure.
Now for the criterion that really makes the difference for many learners in Saudi Arabia:
#1 - Flalingo: The Best All-Round Choice in Saudi Arabia
Flalingo combines live one-to-one (1:1) lessons with AI analysis after every lesson. Lessons last 25 or 50 minutes, run entirely in English, and you can take anywhere from one to seven a week. Teacher selection is strict: roughly one in every 73 applicants makes it onto the platform, after interviews, a demo lesson and a review of their teaching background.
In Saudi Arabia specifically, what matters most is choosing a teacher on your own terms. You can filter teachers by gender, and there are both male and female teachers. If you are starting from scratch and want someone to explain the grammar in Arabic, there are teachers whose first language is Arabic. Scheduling is flexible around the Friday-Saturday weekend and Saudi time, and the sales team speaks Arabic, so there is no need to translate your questions before you sign up. Payment is in Saudi riyals.
Once you know your level from the free level test, the Smart Matching system recommends a shortlist of 22 to 30 teachers based on 18 data points: your goal, your level, your availability, the accent you prefer and even teaching style (calm, energetic, analytical). The likelihood of continuing with the same teacher is over 90%. That matters more than it might seem, because the fear of speaking English fades once you get used to the same person and the same approach every week.
For those working in Vision 2030 sectors, there are teachers who specialise in Business English and sector-specific content (engineering, finance, sales, technology, healthcare, tourism), with English at Work books among the smart personalised materials for meetings, emails and presentations.

Key Features
- One-to-one lessons of 25 or 50 minutes, from one to 7 a week
- Smart Matching: a shortlist of 22 to 30 teachers built from 18 data points
- Teacher gender filter, and teachers whose first language is Arabic
- Course Mode with a curriculum, or Relax Mode for free conversation
- FLAI report: accuracy, fluency and vocabulary by CEFR level
- Flomework exercises: Vocabulary Boost, Grammar Repair and Shadow Lesson
- Smart personalised materials: 30 books and more than 490 units (everyday English, English at work, IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, OET)
- Teachers who specialise in Business English
- An accredited digital certificate in your name after 30 hours, issued within the platform
- A personal education consultant and 24/7 live support
- Cancel a lesson up to 8 hours in advance without losing it
Price
The price depends on three things: lessons per week, lesson length and plan length (1, 3, 6 or 12 months). Longer plans carry discounts of 30%, 40% and 60%. For 25-minute lessons, the monthly fee starts at around SAR 97 (one lesson a week on a 12-month plan) and goes up to around SAR 1,623 (7 lessons a week on a 1-month plan). Per lesson, 25 minutes costs roughly SAR 24 on the annual plan and SAR 58 to 60 on the monthly plan. You can pay in Saudi riyals, and the final price in riyals appears on the plans page.
Monthly prices in SAR. FLAI reports and personalised exercises start from the 6-month plan.
Prices last checked: October 2026.
Who Is It For?
- Adults from A2 to C1 who understand English but stall when they have to speak
- Employees in Vision 2030 sectors (tourism, hospitality, energy, technology, healthcare) who need English for meetings and emails
- Female learners who prefer a female teacher, and beginners who want a teacher to explain things in Arabic at first
- Learners preparing for IELTS for a scholarship or study abroad, with IELTS mock tests
- Learners who can set aside around SAR 97 or more a month for a 6- to 12-month plan and want a fixed weekly slot
What Do Users Say?
Flalingo is rated 4.9 out of 5 on Google (710 reviews, October 2026).
#2 - Preply: The Widest Tutor Choice, with an Arabic Language Filter
Preply is an open tutor marketplace, and its English section alone lists more than 46,000 tutors (October 2026). Each tutor sets their own price, schedule and approach; you browse the profiles, watch the intro videos and book.
Preply's strength in the Saudi market is its "Also speaks" filter. Select Arabic and you get a list of tutors who can explain the grammar to you in Arabic, many of them at low prices. For a beginner who doesn't want to spend the first month struggling to follow explanations in English, that is a real difference. And if the first tutor isn't a good fit, you can try another at no extra cost.
The trade-off is that quality varies a great deal from tutor to tutor. The curriculum, the way mistakes are corrected and even punctuality all depend on the person you pick. There is no teacher gender filter either, so you choose from the photo and video. Payment runs on a subscription with a single tutor that renews automatically every 28 days. If you are weighing up two tutor marketplaces, we have written a detailed comparison: Preply or italki?
Key Features
- More than 46,000 English tutors
- Filters for price, time, languages the tutor speaks, goal and native speakers
- A 25- or 50-minute trial lesson, and a free switch if the tutor isn't a good fit
- Standard lessons last 50 minutes
- A flexible subscription: reschedule, pause or change tutor
- A mobile app rated 4.8 in the App Store
Price
Each tutor sets their own price. Among Arabic-speaking tutors who teach English for work, prices ranged from €4 to €6 for a 50-minute lesson after discount (≈ SAR 17 to 25), and the price filter itself runs from €2 to €44 and above (≈ SAR 8 to 185). Native speakers tend to sit at the top end. The trial lesson carried a 30% discount at the time of review. With one lesson a week from a €6 tutor, a month costs roughly SAR 100.
Prices last checked: October 2026 (€1 = SAR 4.21).
Who Is It For?
- Beginners (A1 to B1) who want grammar explained in Arabic at first
- Learners on a tight budget, starting from around SAR 70 to 100 a month
- Learners who can judge a tutor for themselves and don't mind trying more than one
- Learners who don't need a formal progress report or certificate
What Do Users Say?
Preply is rated 4.4 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 25,758 reviews (October 2026). The first review below is from a tutor on the platform; the second is from a learner.
#3 - Cambly: Round-the-Clock Conversation with Native Speakers
Cambly is an American platform founded in 2012, and its Arabic page states that all of its tutors are native English speakers. You open the app and, if a tutor is free, you can be talking within minutes. If you prefer to plan ahead, you can book with a favourite tutor.
That speed suits shift workers and anyone whose schedule changes from week to week: at 2 am after a shift, there is still someone to talk to. The interface is in Arabic, but the lesson itself is entirely in English, so don't expect anyone to explain the grammar in Arabic.
Cambly's weak spot is structure. Following a curriculum and sticking with the same tutor are largely up to you. For a B1-plus learner who knows how to build their own plan, that is no problem. For someone starting from zero, the experience can feel scattered. If you are torn between Cambly and an open marketplace, read our Cambly vs italki comparison.
Key Features
- Native-speaker tutors, according to the website
- Instant lessons 24/7, or advance booking with a favourite tutor
- 30-minute lessons, 2, 3 or 5 a week
- Group plan: one tutor with one or two students (adults aged 21 and over)
- Private+ plan: one-to-one lessons, a recording and transcript of every lesson, automated notes and all courses
- Pro plan: exclusive Pro tutors, structured lessons built around your goal, tutor notes and self-study recommendations
- Courses in conversation, Business English, grammar and exam preparation
Price
Cambly shows prices by country. On the Arabic page, the Group plan starts at $17 a month (≈ SAR 64), Private+ at $39 (≈ SAR 146) and Pro at $56 (≈ SAR 210). At checkout, a 30-minute Private+ lesson cost about SAR 50 on a monthly subscription, SAR 41 on a 3-month plan and SAR 25 on an annual plan. On Pro, it ranges from SAR 37 to 73 per lesson. With two lessons a week, monthly Private+ comes to around SAR 396.
Prices last checked: October 2026 ($1 = SAR 3.75).
Who Is It For?
- Adults at B1 and above who can lead a conversation
- Learners who want to get used to different accents and build fluency
- Shift workers and people whose schedules keep changing
- A budget of SAR 150 to 400 a month for one-to-one lessons
What Do Users Say?
Cambly is rated 2.0 out of 5 on Trustpilot from more than 200 reviews (October 2026). Before you judge by that number: many of the recent reviews were written by tutors on the platform complaining about algorithm and scheduling changes, so they reflect the tutors' experience of the platform rather than the learners'. The first review below is one of those; the second is from a learner.
#4 - EF English Live: A Structured Curriculum and a Certificate for Every Level
EF English Live is the online arm of EF Education First, the same organisation that publishes the EPI index mentioned at the start of this article. It has a dedicated Saudi website in Arabic and offers five tracks: General English, Business English, TOEFL preparation, TOEIC preparation and Travel English.
A plan combines three elements: private lessons with a teacher, small group classes and self-study on the platform. According to its teachers page, EF has more than 3,000 TEFL-certified trainers, all native or bilingual speakers, and group classes start every 30 minutes around the clock. So if you get home from work at 11 pm, there is still a class to join.
What draws Saudi learners here is the word "certified". Each level ends with a test, and if you pass you receive a certificate you can add to your CV or LinkedIn profile. Bear in mind that this is EF's own certificate, not an independent international test such as IELTS. Prices aren't shown on the website either: the plan is built around the track, the number of private and group lessons and your budget, so you will need to speak to an adviser.
Key Features
- Five tracks: general, business, TOEFL, TOEIC and travel
- Private lessons + small group classes + self-study
- More than 3,000 TEFL-certified trainers with at least two years' experience
- Group classes starting every 30 minutes, 24/7
- A test and certificate after each level (A1 to C2)
- Teacher rating after every lesson
- An app for mobile and desktop, with printed materials at no extra cost
- Satisfaction guarantee: a refund after the first 12 weeks, provided you complete one private lesson and one self-study unit each week
Price
EF English Live doesn't publish its prices online, so there is no figure to compare before you get in touch. The price depends on the track you choose, the number of private and group lessons, your budget and the time you have available. To compare it fairly with the other platforms, ask for the quote in writing, in riyals, with the number of private lessons per month, and ask how long the minimum commitment is.

Who Is It For?
- Learners who want a certificate from a well-known name for their CV
- Employees who need a clear Business English or TOEIC curriculum
- Learners who like mixing self-study with lessons
- Learners who can commit to a long plan (several months to a year)
What Do Users Say?
EF English Live is rated 4.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 14,869 reviews (October 2026).
#5 - Wall Street English: A Blended Model of Centres and Online Learning
Wall Street English is a familiar name in Saudi Arabia. It has been teaching adults since 1972 and has taught more than 3 million students worldwide. What sets it apart from the rest of the list is that it offers courses both in its centres and online, and you can mix the two. For learners who care about cultural fit, its branches in the Kingdom vary: there are women-only branches, men-only branches and mixed branches.
The adult course is divided into 20 levels from beginner to advanced, aligned with CEFR. Here is how it works: you follow a TV series set in New York, complete interactive exercises with AI and speech-recognition pronunciation feedback, then attend small classes of up to 4 students at the same level. It takes about 3 hours a week, and plans usually run for 9, 12 or 18 months. According to the website, moving from A2 to B1 takes around 6 months.
That long commitment cuts both ways. For someone who needs discipline and a fixed framework, it is exactly the right fit. For someone who wants to try a month and see, it can feel heavy. There is also an online corporate programme for organisations that want to train their staff, as well as IELTS preparation.
Key Features
- 20 CEFR-aligned levels (A1 to C2)
- In-centre, online or blended courses
- Small classes of up to 4 students
- AI exercises and automated pronunciation feedback
- Plans of 9, 12 or 18 months, around 3 hours a week
- Programmes for adults, students and companies, plus IELTS preparation
Price
Wall Street English doesn't publish its prices online, so there is no figure to compare before you get in touch. The price depends on your current level and the length of the course, and you receive it after filling in the "Get the course price" form. Because the plans are long, compare the total price with the number of hours you will actually spend with a teacher.

Who Is It For?
- Learners who like to attend a centre now and then and want a women-only or men-only branch
- Learners who need a fixed framework and a long commitment to keep going
- Companies that want a training programme for their staff
- Levels A1 to B2, with time for self-study each week
What Do Users Say?
Wall Street English Saudi Arabia holds an "Excellent" rating on reviews.io from 1,295 reviews, according to its website. Here are two Google reviews for one of its centres:
#6 - italki: Pay per Lesson and Choose Your Teacher
italki is a tutor marketplace like Preply, but without a subscription. You top up credit in your account and pay for each lesson on its own. If work or travel takes over for a whole month, you lose nothing.
At the time of review, the page for Arabic-speaking English teachers listed 185 teachers, and prices appear directly in riyals, which spares you the conversion maths. There are two types of teacher: "Professional Teachers", who hold teaching qualifications, and "Community Tutors", who focus more on conversation. Filters cover price, lesson time, the languages the teacher speaks, their country, and instant lessons or lessons within 72 hours.
As with Preply, everything depends on the teacher: the curriculum, the homework and the feedback after the lesson. italki doesn't give you a standard progress report or a certificate. And if you decide to stop, the credit in your account isn't easy to turn back into cash. It works best for focused conversation practice or a teacher who specialises in something specific, such as polishing your speaking before a job interview.
Key Features
- 185 Arabic-speaking English teachers (at the time of review)
- "Professional Teacher" or "Community Tutor", depending on what you need
- Filters for price, time, language and the teacher's country
- Instant lessons or lessons within 72 hours
- Pay per lesson, with no subscription
- Prices shown in Saudi riyals
Price
Each teacher sets their own price. Trial lessons with Arabic-speaking English teachers started from around SAR 26 and reached SAR 37 or more with some of them. According to italki's FAQ, the average 60-minute lesson costs about $10 (≈ SAR 38), and an experienced professional teacher usually charges $12 to $15 (≈ SAR 45 to 56).
Prices last checked: October 2026.
Who Is It For?
- Learners with irregular schedules who want to pay only when they need a lesson
- Learners who want focused conversation practice or a specialist teacher for a short-term goal
- Learners who like trying several teachers before deciding
- Learners at B1 and above who don't need a full curriculum
What Do Users Say?
italki is rated 4.4 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 15,014 reviews (October 2026).
#7 - Fluency: A Saudi Platform with a Certificate from the Saudi British Centre
Fluency is a Saudi platform run by Al-Madinah Educational Company. It offers live one-to-one lessons, plus group courses for IELTS, TOEFL, conversation and Business English. The website is available in Arabic and English, and there is a mobile app.
The system is simple and flexible: you choose the plan length (1, 2 or 3 months), the number of lessons a week (2, 3 or 5) and the lesson length (15, 30 or 60 minutes). The first lesson is free; the teacher assesses your level in it and recommends a course. There are 11 courses from A1 to C1 with 236 lessons in total, alongside an everyday conversation programme and a business programme that prepares you for meetings, presentations and job interviews.
On the Saudi criterion, Fluency covers the ground clearly. You can choose a male or female teacher, the accent (American or British, for example) and even the interaction style, and lessons are available at weekends and late at night, subject to the teacher's availability. The trainers page lists 27 trainers from 11 countries, and the platform says they hold teaching certificates such as CELTA and TESOL. The team is much smaller than on the open marketplaces, which means fewer options at busy times.
Key Features
- Plans of 1, 2 or 3 months, with 15% and 20% off the longer ones
- 2, 3 or 5 lessons a week, lasting 15, 30 or 60 minutes
- A free first lesson with a level assessment
- Choice of male or female teacher, accent and interaction style
- 11 courses from A1 to C1, plus everyday conversation and business programmes
- Group courses for IELTS and TOEFL
- Cancel or reschedule a lesson at least one hour in advance
- No automatic renewal
Price
Prices are published in riyals on the packages page. The monthly plan with two 15-minute lessons a week (8 lessons, 2 hours with a teacher) costs SAR 398, and was on offer at SAR 339 after discount at the time of review. That works out at about SAR 169.50 per hour with a teacher. With three 30-minute lessons a week, the price is SAR 1,194 a month, falling to SAR 955.20 a month on the 3-month plan (≈ SAR 135 per hour). The 2-month plan carries a 15% discount and the 3-month plan 20%.
Prices last checked: October 2026.
Who Is It For?
- Learners who prefer a local Saudi platform with an Arabic website and support
- Learners who want a certificate from a well-known Saudi institution
- Learners who want short lessons (15 minutes) that fit between work commitments
- Learners preparing for IELTS or TOEFL who want to try the group courses
What Do Users Say?
We searched for Fluency reviews on Trustpilot and Google and found none published for the platform, so we haven't included any here. Its website cites 95% satisfaction and a 95% success rate in international exams, but these are the platform's own figures and we couldn't verify them.
Which Platform Suits You?
There is no single "best" platform for everyone. The more useful question is which combination of features fits your situation. Here is our comparison summed up by goal:
- You want a complete system and measurable progress: Flalingo. A regular teacher, FLAI reports, male and female teachers, and Friday and Saturday availability.
- You are starting from scratch and want explanations in Arabic at the lowest cost: Preply or italki with the Arabic filter, or an Arabic-speaking teacher on Flalingo if you want follow-up.
- You want a conversation right now, at any hour: Cambly.
- You want a certificate and a levelled curriculum: EF English Live, or Fluency if you prefer a certificate from a Saudi institution.
- You like attending a centre now and then: Wall Street English.
- You work in a Vision 2030 sector and need English for meetings: a business teacher on Flalingo, or the business track at EF. Our article on the best online Business English courses goes into more depth.
For the Saudi market in particular, don't choose until you have checked three things. Can you choose your teacher's gender? Does the schedule work around Friday and Saturday? And will someone reply in Arabic if a problem comes up with payment or scheduling? Most people who drop a course in the second month do so because of one of these.
If you have children, we have put together a separate comparison: the best online English courses for kids in Saudi Arabia.
