Best Online English Courses in Turkey (2026): 7 Platforms Compared

Best Online English Courses in Turkey: 7 Platforms Compared
Last updated: October 2026

Turkey ranked 71st out of 123 countries in the EF English Proficiency Index released in November 2025. A year earlier it was 65th. The same report found speaking to be the country's weakest skill and reading its strongest. So plenty of people understand what they read, then get stuck the moment they have to speak up in a meeting or answer a question in a job interview. That is why speaking practice comes first for adults looking into the best online English courses in Turkey.

The second worry is money. Is the price in dollars or lira? Does the card get charged automatically every month? If you ask for a refund, will anyone actually answer? Many people in Turkey check a brand's page on Şikayetvar, the country's best-known consumer complaints site, before they pay. We did the same, and weighed all seven platforms against a Turkey-specific measure as well: TL price stability and refund protection.

We also took speaking anxiety into account. A 1986 study by Horwitz, Horwitz and Cope in The Modern Language Journal found that oral communication and communication apprehension make up a large part of foreign language anxiety. Anxious learners speak less, and learners who speak less progress more slowly. So for every platform we also checked how much the format makes you talk, and whether the same teacher is there for you each week. If this anxiety holds you back too, our guide to overcoming the fear of speaking English is a good place to start.

!
Short Answer

Our overall pick for adults in Turkey is Flalingo: a regular teacher, a FLAI report after every lesson, TL pricing and a 30-day refund. Cambly stands out for instant native-speaker conversation, Preply for tutor choice and italki for paying by the lesson. Wall Street English suits learners who want a coach, Engoo tight budgets and English Time a local provider.

How Did We Evaluate Online English Courses in Turkey?

We asked every platform the same seven questions before ranking them.

1. Teacher quality and matching
Do teachers go through teacher training, and does the platform match you with a teacher suited to your goal?
2. Curriculum and CEFR alignment
Are lessons tied to a structured level progression running from A1 to C2?
3. Share of speaking practice
Does the lesson format stop you being a listener and get you talking?
4. Progress visibility
Do you get a measurable report or regular feedback that shows how you're improving?
5. Flexibility
Do lesson times, cancellation terms and instant lessons fit a busy adult schedule?
6. Practical factors
Is the price transparent, is there a trial lesson, and how do refunds and auto-renewal work?
7. TL price stability and refund protection
Is the price in TL or a foreign currency, is the refund policy clear, and do complaints on Şikayetvar get resolved?
How did we evaluate? We checked prices on each platform's official pricing page in September 2026. Where a platform shows prices based on the country you're in, or doesn't publish them at all, we say so and give the date of the independent source we used. Şikayetvar, Google Reviews and Trustpilot data are from September 2026. To convert dollar prices into TL, we used the September 2026 market exchange rate (1 USD ≈ 49 TL).

Disclosure: Flalingo publishes this article and is included in the list. We ranked the platforms against the seven criteria above and applied the same criteria to every platform, so the assessments stay as objective and comparable as possible.

Best Online English Courses in Turkey: Quick Comparison Table

The table puts each platform's strongest area and starting price side by side. You'll find where each figure comes from, and how we calculated it, in the platform sections.

TL Prices, Refunds and Auto-Renewal

According to the consumer guide published by Turkey's Ministry of Trade, the withdrawal period for distance contracts is 14 days. But the same guide lists services performed instantly online, such as distance learning, among the exceptions. Once you've attended your first lesson, relying on the statutory right of withdrawal can get harder, so what really decides things is the platform's own refund policy.

Platform Billing currency Refund terms Auto-renewal Şikayetvar (27 September 2026)
Flalingo TL 30-day unconditional refund No 97/100 (34 ratings), 127 complaints, 30 resolved, 17% reply rate

#1 - Flalingo: The Most Balanced Choice, with a Regular Teacher and AI Reports

Flalingo is a hybrid online English platform that gives adults live one-to-one lessons with native English-speaking teachers. It accepts only one in every 73 teachers who apply, and selection includes an interview, a demo lesson and an assessment of teaching skills.

Two things put Flalingo at the top of the list. The first is continuity. Smart Matching pairs you with teachers using 18 data points (your level, goal, available hours, accent preference and the personality traits you want in a teacher), and the chance of carrying on with the same teacher is over 90%. The second is what happens after the lesson. An AI coach called FLAI analyses every lesson and turns it into a report. If you're after a casual conversation partner with no plan, though, this structure may be more than you need.

Standout Feature: A Closed Learning Loop

After each live lesson you get a FLAI report: your grammar mistakes next to their corrected forms, your words per minute, your rate of pauses and filler words, and the CEFR spread of the vocabulary you used. Flomework turns those mistakes into exercises made for you, and FLAI Speaking carries the same gaps over into spoken practice. In the next lesson your teacher has already seen the report and picks up where you left off. None of the other platforms we reviewed links post-lesson analysis this directly to homework and speaking practice.

For a closer look at what FLAI measures in each lesson, see our FLAI performance analysis.

Key Features

  • 25- or 50-minute one-to-one lessons, 1-7 lessons a week
  • A personal shortlist of 22-30 teachers through Smart Matching
  • FLAI report: analysis of accuracy, fluency and vocabulary range
  • Flomework exercises (Vocabulary Boost, Grammar Repair, Shadow Lesson) and FLAI Speaking
  • Smart Personalized Materials: 28 books and more than 440 units (Everyday English, Business English, IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC, OET)
  • A personal education consultant, 24/7 live support and a free level test

Pros

  • ✓ Over 90% chance of continuing with the same teacher
  • ✓ Teacher selection that accepts 1 in every 73 applicants
  • ✓ A FLAI report after every lesson, plus exercises built from the mistakes you made in class
  • ✓ TL pricing, 30-day unconditional refund, no auto-renewal
  • ✓ Teachers have native-level English and training in how to teach, and the platform requires both
  • ✓ Smart Matching takes most of the trial and error out of finding a teacher who suits you

Cons

  • ✕ FLAI reports and personalised exercises only come with 6- and 12-month packages
  • ✕ The mobile app lags behind the web experience, and development is ongoing
  • ✕ Live lessons need a stable internet connection and a device that can handle them

Price

Prices are shown in TL and depend on how many lessons you take a week, lesson length and package length (1, 3, 6 or 12 months). For 25-minute lessons, the monthly fee ranges from 1,280 TL (12 months, one lesson a week) to 21,420 TL (1 month, seven lessons a week). For 50-minute lessons the range is 2,550-42,840 TL. Per lesson, a 25-minute class costs about 320 TL on a 12-month package and 765-800 TL on a monthly one. The 3-, 6- and 12-month packages come with discounts of 30%, 40% and 60% respectively. You can also book a 25-minute trial lesson for 100 TL.

Prices last checked: September 2026.

Who Is It Best For?

  • Adults between A2 and C1 who understand what they read but get stuck when speaking
  • Learners aiming for everyday conversation, business English or IELTS preparation
  • People who can set aside 1,280 TL or more a month for a 6-12 month package
  • Anyone who wants a fixed weekly lesson time and to keep progressing with the same teacher

Thanks to Flalingo, my English learning has become much more organised and productive. I'm especially happy working with my teacher, Murat A. He is very punctual and disciplined, and he really cares about his students' progress. He keeps regular track of my lessons and homework and pays close attention to the topics I'm weak in. His explanations are very clear, easy to follow and instructive. He patiently explains again anything I don't understand, and he corrects my mistakes one by one, explaining in detail why they're wrong and how the correct form should be used. Because of this, my confidence has grown and I've started using English more accurately and consciously. Every lesson is well planned, productive and motivating. I could clearly feel my progress within a short time. (...) I'm also very pleased with the fast 24/7 customer support.

For a long time I'd been looking for a structured platform to improve my English speaking skills and take my language to the next level. Flalingo turned out to be a real turning point for me. Thanks to the live speaking lessons I take two days a week, I can say I've completely got over my speaking anxiety. The native English-speaking tutors on the platform are extremely professional, patient and motivating. We don't just talk: the way they correct my pronunciation mistakes on the spot and support me with practical methods like shadowing has sped up my progress incredibly. The platform's materials and systematic structure also help a lot when I study on my own outside lessons.

#2 - Cambly: Native-Speaker Conversation Without Booking

Cambly is a platform founded in the US in 2012 that offers video lessons with native English-speaking tutors. You open the app, and if a tutor is free at that moment, you're talking within a few minutes. If you prefer to plan, you can also book lessons with a favourite tutor.

Cambly's strength is how quickly it gets you speaking time. Its weak spot is structure, because keeping track of a curriculum and sticking with one tutor are largely left to the student. For a B1+ learner who can build their own plan, that may not matter. For someone starting from scratch, it can turn into a scattered experience.

Standout Feature: Instant Lessons 24/7

On Cambly you can start talking to an available native-speaker tutor without booking, even in the middle of the night. For shift workers, or anyone whose schedule changes from week to week, that alone can settle the decision. On the Private+ plan, lesson recordings and transcripts are saved too, so you can go back later to a phrase you heard in a conversation.

Key Features

  • Native English-speaking tutors with a choice of accents
  • Instant lessons 24/7, plus optional booking
  • Recording and transcript of every lesson on the Private+ plan
  • Automatic feedback after every lesson
  • Small group lessons (Small Groups plan)
  • Choice between a course library and free conversation

Pros

  • ✓ Instant conversation 24/7, no booking needed
  • ✓ Large pool of native-speaker tutors and a range of accents
  • ✓ Lesson recordings and transcripts you can go back over
  • ✓ Full refund within 7 days on your first plan

Cons

  • ✕ No guarantee of a regular teacher
  • ✕ Weak structured CEFR progression, with conversation-heavy lessons
  • ✕ Discounted long-term plans are recalculated at full price if you cancel early
  • ✕ Many of the 1,978 complaints on Şikayetvar concern unauthorised charges and payment problems

Price

Cambly shows prices based on the country you're in. On the Pro plans, two 30-minute lessons a week cost 7,720 TL a month (1-month plan). The Small Groups plan costs 1,616 TL a month for two 30-minute lessons a week. You get a full refund within 7 days on your first plan. If you cancel after that, the days you've used on a discounted long-term plan are charged at the full, undiscounted price.

Prices last checked: September 2026.

Who Is It Best For?

  • Adults at B1 or above who can steer a conversation on their own
  • Learners focused on fluency, getting used to different accents and everyday conversation
  • People with shift work or irregular schedules (one Şikayetvar complaint mentions an age limit of 21 for the small group package, so check before you buy)

What Do Users Say?

Cambly scores 2.0/5 on Trustpilot from 264 reviews, and opinions sit at the two extremes (41% of reviews are 5 stars, 44% are 1 star). On Şikayetvar its satisfaction score is 79/100 (126 ratings), and every complaint in the past year has received a reply.

Sham of a dreadful online teaching platform. Please, stay away... One of my friends signed up for lessons with Cambly and I shudder to think how they had the worst experience ever. Not only were they overcharged, but the tutor they encountered had absolutely no idea how to teach and told the student how they were doing this job as a side gig. The student gradually got the idea that the tutor was completely unmotivated and only cared about making $ (which, when the student researched, was barely anything anyway, like way below any minimum wage). What a horrific experience for this person who trusted Cambly and then got patently ripped off, leaving her to join a more reputable platform for her studies. (...)

#3 - Preply: The Widest Choice of Tutors

Preply is a tutor marketplace with Ukrainian roots, and it lists 45,719 tutors in its English category (September 2026). They include native speakers as well as Turkish tutors who can explain things in Turkish. Each tutor sets their own price, hours and teaching method.

The system runs on subscriptions. You choose a tutor and pay in 28-day cycles, and if the first tutor isn't a good fit, you can try two more at no extra cost. Freedom of choice is both Preply's strength and its weakness, since the quality you get depends on the tutor you pick.

Standout Feature: Detailed Tutor Filters

On Preply you can filter tutors by price, native language, specialism (business English, IELTS, interviews), availability and the other languages they speak. A beginner who wants grammar explained in Turkish and a manager who wants to rehearse presentations in a particular accent can both find a suitable tutor on the same platform. No other platform on this list offers a choice this wide.

Key Features

  • Filters for price, native language, specialism, availability and other languages spoken
  • 25- or 50-minute trial lesson
  • 28-day subscription tied to a single tutor
  • Subscription pause of up to 20 days, once per cycle
  • 2 free tutor changes if the first tutor isn't a good fit
  • Option to move remaining lessons to another tutor

Pros

  • ✓ A very large pool of tutors, with prices to suit different budgets
  • ✓ You can choose a tutor who speaks Turkish
  • ✓ The subscription is tied to one tutor, which keeps lessons consistent
  • ✓ 4.4/5 on Trustpilot (25,453 reviews)

Cons

  • ✕ Unscheduled lessons expire on the renewal date
  • ✕ Auto-renewal applies, and you have to cancel at least 1 day before renewal
  • ✕ Trial lessons are paid
  • ✕ Satisfaction score of 33/100 on Şikayetvar, where complaints mostly concern being unable to reach support
  • ✕ No shared curriculum or platform-level progress report

Price

On Preply, tutors set their own prices. The English tutors page lists lessons from $3 to over $40. For native English speakers, the average hourly rate is $25 (≈1,225 TL). Trial lessons are paid. Lessons you don't schedule within a cycle don't carry over to the next one, so put your lesson days in the calendar at the start of each cycle.

Prices last checked: September 2026.

Who Is It Best For?

  • Adults looking for a specialist, whether for IELTS, job interviews or industry-specific English
  • Beginners who want to start with a tutor who speaks Turkish
  • People with a flexible budget and time to compare tutors
  • Learners who can plan their lessons at the start of every cycle

What Do Users Say?

Preply scores 4.4/5 on Trustpilot from 25,453 reviews. On Şikayetvar, though, it has 136 complaints and a satisfaction score of 33/100. The two reviews below reflect that split: the tutor experience is positive, while the subscription model is more divisive.

Being able to choose the tutor you want and… Being able to choose and change the tutor you want, finding tutors for every budget, tutors introducing themselves with a video, scheduling lessons whenever you like once you've found the right tutor and being able to change lesson times, lesson analyses published after each lesson, seeing your mistakes, vocabulary reviews and grammar exercises, very reasonable prices, friendly and fast customer service. Preply is brilliant in all these respects

Amazing, proven by experience I've been using it for 3 months and I'm very happy with my tutor and with the study materials Preply offers its students. I'm in constant contact with my tutor and get help with homework and practice. I've made a lot of progress with the AI-supported speaking practice, the feedback after every lesson and the daily exercise plans based on that feedback. Recently I missed a lesson and couldn't join it because of the automatic confirmation system. I contacted the support team straight away. As soon as they understood the problem, they gave me 1 lesson credit back so I wouldn't lose out. It was a very good experience and it won my trust. Definitely a student-friendly, reliable, high-quality app.

#4 - italki: Pay per Lesson, No Subscription

italki is an international language teacher marketplace founded in 2007, and its English page lists 4,257 teachers (September 2026). The main difference from Preply is that there's no subscription. You top up credits and buy lessons one at a time or in packages. Teachers fall into two groups: qualified "professional teachers" and "community tutors", who mostly offer conversation practice.

This model suits people who study irregularly. Someone who takes lessons intensively for two weeks and then takes a month off doesn't lose money on an unused subscription. But credits are priced in dollars, so the same lesson gets more expensive as the lira loses value.

Standout Feature: Pay per Lesson with No Commitment

italki has no monthly package, no auto-renewal and no "use it this month or lose it" pressure. Credits stay valid as long as your account isn't inactive for 12 months. If the teacher doesn't turn up for a trial lesson, or the lesson doesn't meet your expectations, you can get your credits back within 48 hours, up to twice. For learners who step up their study before an exam or a business trip and then take a break, this is the most relaxed model on the list.

Key Features

  • Pay per lesson, no subscription
  • Split between professional teachers and community tutors
  • Lesson packages available (must be completed within 6 months)
  • 100% satisfaction guarantee on trial lessons (up to 2 times)
  • Credits expire after 12 months of inactivity

Pros

  • ✓ No commitment and no auto-renewal
  • ✓ Wide price range, from low-cost conversation practice to certified teachers
  • ✓ Satisfaction guarantee on trial lessons
  • ✓ 4.4/5 on Trustpilot (14,969 reviews)

Cons

  • ✕ Credits are priced in dollars, so exchange rate movements hit the cost directly
  • ✕ Purchased credits can't be refunded as cash
  • ✕ Quality varies a lot from teacher to teacher, with no shared curriculum or report
  • ✕ Lesson packages have to be used within 6 months

Price

Hourly rates on italki range from $4 to $120. At the exchange rate on 26 September 2026 (1 USD ≈ 49 TL), that works out at roughly 196-2,940 TL. Trial lessons usually cost $5-15 (≈245-735 TL). Because credits are priced in dollars, their TL value changes with every purchase. Factor in your card's foreign transaction and currency conversion fees too.

Prices last checked: September 2026.

Who Is It Best For?

  • Adults at A2 or above who can compare teacher profiles and choose for themselves
  • Learners focused on free conversation, a particular accent or short spells of intensive study
  • People comfortable paying in dollars who want to manage their budget lesson by lesson
  • Anyone with an irregular or seasonal schedule

What Do Users Say?

italki scores 4.4/5 on Trustpilot from 14,969 reviews. On Şikayetvar there are only three complaints (2024-2025), too few to produce a satisfaction score. A small number of complaints doesn't always mean few problems, and the much larger Trustpilot sample tells you more when you're deciding.

#5 - Wall Street English: Established Brand, Blended Model

Wall Street English is an international chain of language schools founded in Italy in 1972. Its online programme uses a blended format. First you study on your own with interactive digital lessons built like a TV series, then you join online conversation classes of up to four students with native English-speaking teachers. Social activity sessions and one-to-one coaching with a personal English coach are also part of the programme. Global Online classes have a maximum of three students and run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The programme is split into 20 levels mapped onto the CEFR's A1-C2 range.

It makes sense for adults who want structure and would like a coach to back up their self-study discipline. It isn't for anyone looking for one-to-one lessons or wanting to see the price up front.

Standout Feature: Learning Guarantee

Wall Street English says it guarantees from the outset that you'll reach your target level, and that it will refund your course fee if you don't. It's the only provider on this list that ties a refund to results. Ask for the attendance conditions behind the guarantee in writing before you sign, because some Şikayetvar complaints describe refunds being delayed despite a signed guarantee.

Key Features

  • Digital self-study, live online conversation classes and social activities
  • Online classes of up to 4 students, and up to 3 on Global Online
  • A personal English coach and one-to-one coaching sessions
  • 20-level, CEFR-aligned programme
  • Online or face-to-face learning
  • A separate business English programme

Pros

  • ✓ Levels, a coach and progress tracking in one package
  • ✓ Speaking practice in small classes of 3-4 students
  • ✓ Choice between online and face-to-face learning
  • ✓ Results-based learning guarantee

Cons

  • ✕ Prices aren't public, so you need a consultation
  • ✕ Long-term contract packages and high-value refund complaints
  • ✕ Satisfaction score of 20/100 on Şikayetvar (10 ratings)
  • ✕ Mainly group lessons rather than one-to-one

Price

Wall Street English doesn't publish its prices on its website. The fee is set during a consultation, based on your needs, your goals and how long you plan to attend. Refund complaints on Şikayetvar mention amounts of 39,000 TL and 79,200 TL. Those figures give an idea of package size, but they're no substitute for an official price list.

Prices last checked: September 2026.

Who Is It Best For?

  • Adults and working professionals who want a structured start from scratch (A1-C1)
  • Learners aiming for general English, business English and confidence speaking in social settings
  • People with a large budget who are ready for a long-term contract
  • Anyone who can make time for self-study with digital content alongside live classes

What Do Users Say?

Wall Street English has 52 complaints on Şikayetvar and a satisfaction score of 20/100. The complaints centre on delayed refunds, the closure of the Tuzla and FSM branches, and cancellation requests that weren't processed.

Since I started at Wall Street English, the way I see English has completely changed. The lessons are really enjoyable and the teachers are brilliant. Both the Turkish and the foreign teachers are very knowledgeable and give students individual attention. Thanks to the speaking practice, I now feel much more at ease expressing myself in English. The atmosphere is very positive and you feel motivated. I'd definitely recommend it!

#6 - Engoo: Daily Practice on a Small Budget

Engoo has more than 6,033 tutors from over 113 countries, and its lessons last 25 minutes. The Standard plan uses tutors who aren't native English speakers. On Premium Lite half of your lessons are with native tutors, and on Premium all of them are.

Engoo's real draw is price. On the 12-month prepaid Standard plan, a 25-minute lesson drops to $2-3.50, the lowest cost per lesson on this list. In return, you accept dollar pricing and monthly plans that renew automatically.

Standout Feature: Levelled Materials Library

Engoo's lesson materials are sorted by level and cover hundreds of topics, from daily news to business English. Because you can read the topic and skim the vocabulary before the lesson, most of the 25 minutes is left for speaking. For a learner who wants a short lesson every day and likes to pick the topic, this library is the biggest plus after the low price.

Key Features

  • 25-minute one-to-one lessons
  • Standard, Premium Lite and Premium plans
  • 8, 12, 20 or 40 lessons a month
  • Levelled library of lesson materials
  • 25% and 60% discounts on 6- and 12-month prepaid plans

Pros

  • ✓ Lowest cost per lesson on the list (≈$2-3.50 on the 12-month Standard plan)
  • ✓ 25-minute format that fits a short daily lesson routine
  • ✓ Large, levelled materials library
  • ✓ Full refund within 7 days of your first payment if no lessons have been used

Cons

  • ✕ Prices are in dollars, so the exchange rate risk sits with the student
  • ✕ Monthly plans renew automatically, and unused lessons don't roll over
  • ✕ No native-speaker tutors on the Standard plan
  • ✕ Very little review data in Turkey, which makes the experience hard to verify from outside

Price

Engoo shows prices in dollars even on its Turkey site. On the Standard plan with monthly billing, 8 lessons a month cost $67 (≈3,280 TL) and 40 lessons cost $217 (≈10,630 TL). Premium Lite and Premium plans are roughly 50-65% more expensive. Payments aren't refunded after the first 7 days unless there's a technical problem.

Prices last checked: September 2026.

Who Is It Best For?

  • Adults at A2 or above who can get their point across at a basic level
  • Learners who want short, frequent speaking practice every day
  • People who want the lowest budget and accept paying in dollars
  • Anyone who can set aside 25 minutes a day and use all their lessons within the month

What Do Users Say?

Engoo is hard to assess in Turkey because there's so little data. The Engoo Türkiye page on Şikayetvar has just 2 complaints and no score. The engoo.com page on Trustpilot shows 12 reviews and a 2.1/5 rating, and most of those come from tutor applicants rather than students. The two reviews below are from that group, so they say more about how Engoo selects tutors than about lesson quality.

I would give even less than one star I would give even less than one star. Absolutely do not get English lessons from these people! They told me, Native Canadian from Montreal, that my accent is not native! They don't understand English. They don't teach it. They teach accents. And thier judgement is a joke. I was born in Montréal. Raised Canadian. Speak like one. If they can't hear it, they're not qualified to rate it.

#7 - English Time (Etopya): A Local School's One-to-One Online Branch

English Time is a language school that has been running since 1997, with a large branch network concentrated in Istanbul. Its online arm goes by the name Etopya. Lessons are one-to-one with native English-speaking tutors, and you choose the tutor yourself. Packages include unlimited mobile practice, live conversation rooms and a personalised study plan.

We included English Time as the local player on the list. In its favour, it's a familiar name and it publishes a TL price list openly. The downside shows on Şikayetvar. The company has 569 complaints across the whole business, and its reply rate over the past year is 4%. Refused refunds, withdrawal fees and disruption when courses start come up again and again.

Standout Feature: One-to-One Online Lessons Backed by Physical Branches

On Etopya, lessons are one-to-one with a native-speaker tutor, and behind them stands a physical institution that has been operating since 1997. That matters to learners who, if something goes wrong with an online course, want to walk into a branch and talk to someone face to face. A public price list in TL also makes the decision easier.

Key Features

  • One-to-one online lessons with native English-speaking tutors
  • Students choose their own tutor
  • 8, 12 or 20 lessons a month (2, 3 or 5 a week)
  • Unlimited mobile practice and live conversation rooms
  • Personalised study plan
  • Free level assessment call

Pros

  • ✓ TL pricing and a public price list
  • ✓ One-to-one lessons with native-speaker tutors
  • ✓ 349.90 TL per lesson on the 12-month package with 5 lessons a week
  • ✓ Long-established local institution with a physical branch network

Cons

  • ✕ 569 complaints company-wide on Şikayetvar and a 4% reply rate
  • ✕ Refused refunds and withdrawal fees stand out in the complaints
  • ✕ Lesson length isn't clearly stated on the pricing page
  • ✕ The Etopya page doesn't mention a measurable progress report

Price

Etopya lists its prices per lesson in TL. The list price is 750 TL per lesson, and the discounted prices are:

  • 1-month package: 674.90 TL at 2 lessons a week, 599.90 TL at 3, 449.90 TL at 5
  • 3-month package: 659.90 TL at 2 lessons a week, 584.90 TL at 3, 389.90 TL at 5
  • 12-month package: 636.90 TL at 2 lessons a week, 561.90 TL at 3, 349.90 TL at 5

Prices last checked: September 2026.

Who Is It Best For?

  • Adults between A1 and B2 who want to improve their general speaking skills
  • People who prefer a local institution with physical branches
  • Learners who can set aside roughly 5,100-9,000 TL a month and want TL pricing
  • Anyone who can commit regular time to 2-5 lessons a week

I've been studying at English Time for a few months and I'm happy with it so far. The teachers are attentive and helpful, and the lessons are clear and productive. I feel I've improved, especially with speaking practice. The school's managers also try to make things as easy as possible for students and to support them. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their English.

I've been studying at English Time for a few months now and I'm really very happy. The teachers are very attentive and teach the lessons in a clear, enjoyable way. I feel I've improved a great deal, especially in speaking practice. I'd also like to give special thanks to Ms Elçin. Her warmth, her attention and her willingness to help with everything make us feel really valued. I'd happily recommend it to anyone who wants to learn English.

Which Combination of Features Suits You?

Put the seven platforms side by side and no single "best" comes out on top for everyone. The question to ask is which combination of features fits your goal, your budget and the way you study:

  • A regular teacher, measurable progress, TL pricing and refund protection: Flalingo
  • Native-speaker conversation whenever you want, with no booking: Cambly
  • A tutor who speaks Turkish or specialises in a narrow field: Preply
  • No commitment, for study that comes in intensive spells: italki
  • A coach, group classes and branch support: Wall Street English
  • The lowest cost per lesson, despite the dollar risk: Engoo
  • One-to-one lessons in TL from a familiar local institution: English Time (Etopya)

Before you pay, get it in writing which currency you'll be charged in, how long the refund window is and whether the package renews by itself. Then check the brand's complaints on Şikayetvar from the last six months, and whether anyone replied to them. The scores in this article date from September 2026 and may have changed by the time you look.

Our own preference is a few lessons a week with the same teacher, plus a report after every lesson that shows how far you've come. We think those two together do the most to ease speaking anxiety.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much do online English courses cost (₺)?

In Turkey in 2026, a 25-30 minute one-to-one online English lesson costs roughly 100 TL to 900 TL, depending on the platform and package length. Engoo's dollar-priced 12-month plan sits at the bottom of that range. On Flalingo, a 25-minute lesson costs about 320 TL on a 12-month package and 765-800 TL on a monthly one. On Cambly a 30-minute lesson costs 407-880 TL, and on Etopya 349.90-674.90 TL. On Preply and italki, the tutor sets the price. When you compare, look at the cost per lesson and the lesson length rather than the monthly total.

2. Native-speaker teacher or Turkish teacher?

If your goal is speaking and listening, a native English speaker with teacher training usually gets results faster, because they keep you speaking without slipping back into Turkish. For a complete beginner who wants grammar explained in Turkish, a Turkish teacher can make the first few months easier. Being a native speaker isn't enough on its own. The teacher also has to know how to teach.

3. How do you manage exchange rate risk on platforms that charge in foreign currency?

The safest route is to buy a long-term package priced in TL in a single payment. If you've chosen a dollar-based platform, pay for short periods and check the TL amount at every renewal. Find out your card's foreign transaction and currency conversion fees in advance, and on credit-based systems, only top up as many credits as you'll use in the near future.

4. How do auto-renewal and refund rights work?

The statutory withdrawal period for distance contracts in Turkey is 14 days, but the Ministry of Trade's guide lists services performed instantly online, such as distance learning, among the exceptions. So what counts is the platform's own policy. Flalingo offers a 30-day unconditional refund and doesn't auto-renew. Cambly gives a full refund within 7 days on the first plan. Preply renews automatically every 28 days, and Engoo every month. italki has no subscription, but credits you've topped up aren't refunded. Take a screenshot of the refund and renewal terms on the payment page. This information isn't legal advice.

5. Which is best for business English?

The most efficient approach to business English is to work through structured materials with a regular teacher who knows your industry. Flalingo's Business English series, which runs from Starter to Advanced, and the fluency measurements in the FLAI report suit meeting and presentation practice. On Preply and italki you can filter for business English specialists, and Wall Street English has a separate programme. Before you start, our guide to business English terms and our English interview handbook can show you which areas to focus on.

6. How long does it take to go from zero to speaking?

Cambridge English's guideline estimate is that getting from zero to basic conversation (A2) takes around 180-200 guided learning hours, and reaching B1 takes 350-400 hours in total. Five 50-minute one-to-one lessons a week add up to about 18 hours a month, and at that pace you'd reach the hours needed for A2 in 10-11 months. Regular practice outside lessons shortens that time.

Hi, I'm Glory. Teaching English is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life as I get to meet people from different cultures and help them express themselves with confidence. At Flalingo, I take care to create pleasant and relaxed teaching environments where students can speak without fear of making mistakes.
