Best online English courses in Poland: 7 platforms compared
⚠️ Last updated: October 2026

Adults who type ‘best online English courses in Poland’ into a search engine are rarely looking for another round of grammar. They have done that already: a dozen or so years at school, and often a compulsory language course at university on top. What they lack is ease in conversation, and the data shows it. In the EF English Proficiency Index 2025, Poland ranked 15th out of 123 countries with a score of 600, 12 points up on the previous year. The sub-scores drift far apart, though: reading 612, listening 597, speaking 518. Warsaw, home to a large share of the IT industry and the shared services centres, scored 591, which is below the national average.

The Polish market adds two dilemmas of its own: whether your tutor should be a fellow Pole or a native speaker, and how long you should sign up for. Some schools sell courses spread over one or two years, and in December 2024 the head of UOKiK, Poland's Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, brought charges against one of the largest platforms over unclear cancellation costs. That is why, alongside our six standard criteria, we checked every platform's price list and contract terms. As a price benchmark: according to the 2026 e-korepetycje.net report, an hour of English with a private tutor teaching online costs 71.66 zł on average.

In the ‘Polish tutor or native speaker’ debate, a paper from more than thirty years ago still helps, and it keeps resurfacing in language-teaching research. Péter Medgyes, himself an English teacher from Hungary, set out the strengths of both groups in ELT Journal in 1992. A teacher who learned English as a foreign language can predict typical mistakes and explain a difficulty in the learner's own language. A native speaker brings natural language and the pace of real conversation. Our view: at A1-A2, explanations in Polish shorten the road, and from B1 onwards what counts most is how many minutes of each lesson you actually spend speaking.

!

Short answer

Our overall pick is Flalingo: the same tutor throughout, native speakers on every plan, a FLAI report after every lesson, prices in złoty, 30 days to ask for a refund and no automatic renewal. Tutlo suits short lessons with a Polish tutor, Preply and italki suit learners who want to pick a teacher themselves, Fluentbe suits mini-groups, Lingoda a CEFR curriculum, and Cambly conversations with a native speaker at any hour.

How did we rate the platforms?

Before ranking anything, we wrote down the questions every school had to answer with its price list, its terms and conditions and its description of the lessons. We added the last one, marked in orange, with Poland in mind, because here the contract can end up costing more than the learning itself.

Tutors and matching
Who teaches the lessons, how were they vetted, and does the platform help you find the right person or leave you alone with a catalogue of profiles?
Curriculum and CEFR levels
Do you know what you will learn at B1 before you move on to B2, or does every lesson start from a blank page?
Speaking time
How many minutes of each lesson belong to you, and how many to the tutor and the rest of the group?
Visible progress
Do you get something concrete after a lesson, such as a list of mistakes, a report or an assignment?
Flexibility
Can you book a lesson at 7am before work, or cancel it the day before without losing money?
Practical matters
Trial lesson, refunds, automatic renewal: is everything stated plainly?
Price and contract transparency (Poland-specific criterion)
Is the price list public, how long are you tied in, and what does it cost to cancel partway through?
How we worked: We checked prices, terms and refund policies on the platforms' official websites in October 2026. We converted amounts in US dollars and Turkish lira at the National Bank of Poland (NBP) average rate of 6 October 2026 (table 194/A/NBP/2026: 1 USD = 3.8868 zł, 1 TRY = 0.0791 zł) and rounded them, and your bank may add its own conversion fee. Ratings come from Trustpilot and Google. The reviews we quote are public and genuine. We shortened some of them without changing their meaning and translated the ones written in Polish. Disclosure: Flalingo publishes this article and appears on the list. We assessed every platform against the same criteria and listed the drawbacks of each one.

Best online English courses in Poland: comparison table

The last column shows the lowest rate we found in official materials, usually for the longest package or for group classes. Lesson length varies, so we have put it next to the price.

Prices and contracts: what we checked at each school

Many people in Poland read the terms and conditions before the description of the method, and it is hard to blame them. When you buy online, the Polish Consumer Rights Act gives you 14 days to withdraw from the contract without giving a reason, but you pay proportionally for any lessons taken in that time. The real differences start later: contract length, notice period and what happens to lessons you haven't used.

Platform Public price list Commitment Automatic renewal Cancellation and refund Trial lesson
Flalingo Yes, in złoty 1-, 3-, 6- or 12-month package No 30 days for a refund, no reason needed 25 min for ≈8 zł, with a different tutor or a full refund if you're not happy
Tutlo No, individual quote 6-month, 1-year or 2-year course (standard), 0% instalments Fixed-term contract 14 days by law. UOKiK charges in December 2024 over cancellation costs Free
Preply Rates shown on tutor profiles Subscription with one tutor, 28-day cycle Yes, cancel at least a day before Unbooked lessons are lost. Pause of up to 20 days once per cycle Paid. If the tutor isn't right, 2 more trials free
Fluentbe Partly (‘from’ prices) Packages, the smallest is 5 lessons Billed every 5 lessons (one-to-one classes) Notice period: 4 classes Free level test
italki Yes None, you pay per lesson No Credits are not refunded as cash. Satisfaction guarantee on trial lessons Usually 5-18 USD (≈19-70 zł)
Lingoda Yes, in USD, EUR or GBP 4-week subscription Yes 14 days for a refund minus classes taken. Credits valid for a year 7 days free
Cambly Yes, varies by country 1-, 3- or 12-month plan Yes, can be switched off Full refund within 7 days on your first plan, then settled without the discount None, a 7-day guarantee instead

italki (no subscription) and Fluentbe (4 classes' notice) tie you in for the shortest time. Tutlo's standard course carries the longest commitment. Flalingo is the only platform on the list that combines a full price list in złoty, 30 days for a refund and no automatic renewal.

#1 - Flalingo: one tutor, measurable progress and clear terms

Flalingo is a platform that combines live one-to-one lessons with analysis carried out by artificial intelligence. Lessons last 25 or 50 minutes, run entirely in English, and are taught by native speakers on every plan. Roughly one in 73 applicants makes it onto the team, after interviews, a demo lesson and an assessment of their teaching background.

Flalingo owes its first place in this Polish ranking mainly to the seventh criterion. The price list in złoty is on the website, you buy packages for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, nothing renews by itself, and for 30 days you can cancel and get your money back without giving a reason. The second factor is continuity: the chance of going through the whole course with the same tutor is above 90%.

We showed what the lessons look like, based on student reviews, in Flalingo reviews: what the lessons actually look like. You can check your level with the free level test (8 questions, 5-8 minutes, A1-C1 scale). The lessons themselves are English-only, but you can have the website, reports and customer support in Polish, while conversations with your education consultant happen in English. For someone at A1, having no Polish explanations during the lesson can make things harder. For someone at B1, it is more of an advantage.

Standout feature: the lesson, report, practice loop

After every lesson FLAI, an AI-based assistant, analyses the lesson transcript on three dimensions: accuracy (with the correct version next to each mistake), fluency (pace, pauses, fillers such as ‘uhm’) and vocabulary by CEFR level. Your mistakes become Flomework exercises, and before the next class your tutor sees the same report and picks up where you left off. There is more in our article What is FLAI?

Key features

  • One-to-one lessons of 25 or 50 minutes, 1 to 7 a week
  • Smart Matching: 22-30 tutors shortlisted from 18 data points

  • Cancel a lesson up to 8 hours before it starts without losing the credit

Pros

  • ✓ Native speakers on all plans
  • ✓ Over 90% chance of keeping the same tutor for the whole course
  • ✓ Strict selection: about 1 in 73 applicants
  • ✓ A FLAI report after every lesson and exercises built from your own mistakes
  • ✓ Full price list in złoty on the website, no quote ‘from an adviser’

The teachers tailor their lessons to your level and goals (grammar, speaking, etc., what do you want the focus to be on?). They provide detailed lesson analysis reports powered by AI, and you can access and download lesson recordings. [...] I personally found it very helpful. You can take lessons with any teacher you want from their pool. They suggest the best teacher for you, and you can try as many different teachers as you like. Teachers' available times are available on their pages; you make an appointment to take lessons. This is also very good; if there is no suitable time for you, you can request one. We have an educational consultant we can reach via WhatsApp, and they are very helpful with everything. I'm so glad they exist. They try to help with every problem, confusion, or request. There are also different things you can practice within the app according to your level. It's a great system, congratulations Flalingo.

I've been taking English lessons from Flalingo for about two months now and I'm very satisfied. One-on-one lessons, teacher selection tailored to my needs, regular speaking practice, and flexible scheduling have all increased my confidence in my English. I wholeheartedly recommend Flalingo to anyone looking to improve their English.

#2 - Tutlo: 20 minutes on demand, with a Polish tutor or a native speaker

Tutlo is a Polish online school that has been teaching through short lessons for more than 10 years. Classes for adults last 20 minutes, and the school recommends two or three a week. It has over 4,000 tutors, both Poles and native speakers, and more than 85,000 learners have used the platform. You choose the tutor and the time yourself.

For many people in Poland it is the easiest way in. Someone coming back to English after years away can spend the first few weeks with a Polish tutor who explains the present perfect in Polish, and then move on to a native speaker. Twenty minutes fits into a lunch break.

The weaker side is the purchase terms: there is no price list on the website, and the standard course runs for 2 years (6-month and 1-year options also exist).

Standout feature: two schools in one app

Deciding whether today's lesson is with a Polish tutor or a native speaker works like having two schools under one account. A beginner gets explanations in Polish and, once they feel more confident, moves on to English-only conversations without changing platform or contract.

Key features

  • 20-minute one-to-one lessons, bookable around the clock
  • More than 80 courses, including business English and courses for IT, HR, sales and medicine
  • TLE 360° method and tutor feedback after each lesson
  • Tutlo Club (webinars, materials, conversation groups) and an AI tutor
  • Family package for up to 3 people, free trial lesson, 0% instalments

Pros

  • ✓ A Polish tutor or a native speaker on one platform
  • ✓ Short lessons are easy to fit into a working day
  • ✓ 24/7 booking and a wide range of industry courses
  • ✓ 4.7/5 on Trustpilot from over 5,600 reviews

Cons

  • ✕ No public price list, prices quoted individually
  • ✕ The standard course is a 2-year contract
  • ✕ UOKiK charges from December 2024 over cancellation costs
  • ✕ 20 minutes is not much time to rehearse a longer presentation or discuss a text

Price

The amounts below come from a review site, not from the school's price list, because Tutlo doesn't publish one.

  • From about 29 zł per 20-minute lesson, or about 87 zł an hour (czops.pl, July 2026)
  • Example from a user review: 399 zł a month for 3 lessons a week
  • The price depends on frequency, course length and type of tutor, paid in one go or in 0% instalments

Prices checked: October 2026.

Who is it for?

  • Beginners (A1-A2) who want explanations in Polish
  • People with a tight schedule who prefer 20 minutes several times a week to one hour once a week
  • Those who accept a longer commitment and will read the contract carefully

Purchasing a course from TUTLO is the best investment in your personal development. Thanks to TUTLO lessons, I've overcome a language barrier that was so difficult for me and can engage in conversation without stress. Learning English has become a great pleasure and curiosity for me. The TUTLO platform offers professionally prepared English courses, regardless of level: it's a treasure trove of knowledge. Additionally, unlimited access to the TUTLO CLUB is a fantastic asset for learning and developing your speech. The AI tutor is also a tool for improving your speech. I recommend the TUTLO platform.

The Tutlo school is very nice!!! The platform and teachers are great, I enjoyed the three lessons I took with InPost! But it's a shame I can't continue my studies! Please make it possible to pay for the classes without a contract, or pay for the entire course in one lump sum without a contract!

#3 - Preply: the widest choice of tutors and rates

Preply is an international marketplace where tutors set their own prices, hours and way of working. On its English tutor listings, rates for a 50-minute lesson start at 3 USD and go above 40 USD. You pay by subscription: you choose a tutor and the number of lessons a week, and every 28 days you pay for the next cycle.

From a Polish learner's point of view, the most useful thing is the filter for the languages a tutor speaks. Tick Polish and you get teachers who will switch to your language when the grammar gets tricky. Or the other way round: you pick someone from the UK because you are getting ready to work with a British client.

The price of this freedom is that there is no shared curriculum, so the structure of the lessons depends entirely on the person you choose. You also have to keep an eye on the calendar: lessons not booked before renewal are lost, and you have to cancel the subscription at least a day before the next charge. We set out the differences between the two biggest marketplaces in our Preply vs italki comparison.

Standout feature: filters that narrow down a huge pool

Price, country of origin, the languages a tutor speaks, available hours and specialisation (business English, IELTS, job interviews): a few clicks take you from tens of thousands of profiles down to a dozen or so, each with a video introduction and reviews. After a lesson you get a short Lesson Insights summary.

Key features

  • 25- or 50-minute lessons, rates set by tutors
  • Filters: price, native language, ‘also speaks’ (e.g. Polish), hours, specialisation
  • Subscription with one tutor on a 28-day cycle, pause of up to 20 days once per cycle
  • Free tutor switch, Lesson Insights, app rated 4.8 on the App Store

Pros

  • ✓ Huge choice and rates for every budget
  • ✓ Polish-speaking tutors and native speakers in one place
  • ✓ A subscription with one tutor supports continuity
  • ✓ Two extra trials with another tutor at no cost
  • ✓ 4.4/5 on Trustpilot (25,595 reviews)

Cons

  • ✕ Unbooked lessons are lost at renewal
  • ✕ Automatic renewal every 28 days
  • ✕ No shared curriculum, quality depends on the tutor
  • ✕ Some users complain about how transparent billing and balances are

Price

  • 50-minute lesson: from 3 USD to over 40 USD (≈12-155+ zł), converted by your bank when you pay by card
  • The trial lesson is paid, at the chosen tutor's rate

Prices checked: October 2026.

Who is it for?

  • People who want to choose their own tutor and rate
  • Beginners looking for a tutor who can explain things in Polish
  • Those who stay on top of their calendar and book lessons in advance

I'm writing about the Preply platform, not about the tutors. The platform is only interested in profit. They don't want transparent billing and even hide the current value of the money you've paid in. They make refunds and cancelling lessons difficult. The system isn't run by people, of course. It's an app designed to get as much money out of users as possible.

I'm very happy using Preply. The platform is simple and convenient to use, and learning is easy and enjoyable. Another big plus is the fast, helpful support team, who answer questions promptly and help sort out any problems. I definitely recommend it!

#4 - Fluentbe: mini-groups of up to 4 and a short notice period

Fluentbe is a Polish online school that runs one-to-one lessons and group courses of no more than 4 people. According to its homepage, more than 40,000 students learn there. The tutors are Poles with a degree in English philology or linguistics or a teacher-training qualification, and native speakers holding CELTA, DELTA or TEFL certificates.

In a Polish comparison, Fluentbe makes its case through its terms. The notice period is 4 classes, the smallest package is 5 lessons with no further commitment, and one-to-one lessons are billed every 5 sessions. In a market where two-year contracts still turn up, that is unusual flexibility.

Groups follow a fixed timetable, though, and cover levels A1-B2. If you are aiming for C1 or want lessons at 6:30am, you have to go for one-to-one classes, and those cost from 99 zł for 60 minutes, more than the market average. An adviser gives you the full price.

Standout feature: a group where you can't hide

In a group of four, everyone gets their turn to speak, and you also hear how the others handle the same task. The tutor has time to correct each person. Group classes start at 27 zł for 60 minutes, one of the lowest hourly rates with a live tutor in this comparison.

Key features

  • One-to-one lessons (60 minutes, levels A0-C2) and group courses (up to 4 people, A1-B2), aligned with the CEFR
  • Student Space platform: materials, exercises, attendance and progress
  • AI tools: dictionary, translator, proofreader, synonyms
  • Business English (negotiations, presentations, reports) and preparation for FCE, CAE, PET and IELTS
  • Free level test in a conversation with the assistant Kaia, iOS app

Pros

  • ✓ The notice period is just 4 classes
  • ✓ A 5-lesson package is enough to get started
  • ✓ Groups of 4 people at most
  • ✓ Polish tutors and native speakers with teaching certificates
  • ✓ 4.8/5 on Trustpilot (733 reviews)

Cons

  • ✕ Incomplete price list, the final price comes from an adviser
  • ✕ Groups only go up to B2 and follow a fixed timetable
  • ✕ One-to-one lessons from 99 zł an hour, above the market average (71.66 zł)

Price

  • One-to-one lessons: from 99 zł for 60 minutes, billed every 5 lessons
  • Group courses: from 27 zł for 60 minutes, instalments available
  • An adviser gives the final price, which depends on the package and any discounts

Prices checked: October 2026.

Who is it for?

  • Learners at A1-B2 who feel comfortable in a small group
  • Those who don't want to sign a long contract
  • Candidates for Cambridge exams (FCE, CAE) and IELTS

My experience has been excellent. Barry is a fantastic teacher: he is highly professional, explains everything clearly, and is always punctual. The online lessons are very well organized and fit my schedule perfectly. The learning materials are shared regularly, and the online portal is reliable, easy to use, and well structured. Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality of the course and would highly recommend it.

I’m very satisfied with my lessons at Fluentbe. My teacher, Michał, is an excellent instructor: he explains everything clearly and makes even difficult topics easy to understand. The lessons are always enjoyable and often really fun, which makes learning much more effective. Michał is also a very kind and positive person, which creates a great atmosphere during classes. I’ve learned a lot and feel much more confident using English in practice. I truly look forward to every lesson and highly recommend Fluentbe to anyone who wants to improve their language skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

#5 - italki: pay per lesson, not per subscription

italki works much like Preply, with one fundamental difference: there is no subscription. You buy credits and book single lessons or packages whenever you have time for them. The site lists more than 4,200 English teachers in two categories: Professional Teachers, who hold a teaching degree or certificate, and Community Tutors, who focus mainly on conversation and are usually cheaper.

This model suits jobs where a fixed plan is hard to keep: business trips, quarter-end close, the holiday season. Nothing expires at the end of the month and nothing renews on its own. Trial lessons usually cost between 5 and 18 USD (≈19-70 zł). If one of them disappoints you, you can ask for your credits back within 48 hours, up to two times.

The responsibility for your study plan, on the other hand, falls on you. There is no shared curriculum and there are no progress reports, and you buy credits in dollars, so with a złoty card your bank will add a currency conversion fee. It pays to practise on your own between lessons, and we have gathered a few ways to do that in our piece on how to improve your English speaking skills.

Standout feature: zero subscription

No monthly fee, no automatic card charges and no lessons that ‘burn’ at the end of a cycle. You top up your account with credits and book classes when you have time. With an irregular schedule, it is the simplest model in this comparison.

Key features

  • Pay per single lesson or package, no subscription
  • Two groups of teachers: Professional Teacher and Community Tutor
  • ‘Speaks’ filter that includes Polish
  • Trial lessons with a satisfaction guarantee: 48 hours, up to 2 times, refunded as credits
  • Lesson packages to be used within 6 months

Pros

  • ✓ No commitment and no automatic payments
  • ✓ Wide spread of rates, from conversation partners to certified teachers
  • ✓ Polish-speaking tutors available through a filter
  • ✓ Guarantee on trial lessons
  • ✓ 4.4/5 on Trustpilot (14,992 reviews)

Cons

  • ✕ Credits in dollars, currency conversion by your bank
  • ✕ Purchased credits are not refunded as cash
  • ✕ No shared curriculum or reports
  • ✕ Packages must be used within 6 months

Price

  • Trial lessons: usually 5-18 USD (≈19-70 zł)
  • Regular lessons: the teacher sets the rate, paid in credits counted in USD

Prices checked: October 2026.

Who is it for?

  • People with an irregular schedule
  • Learners who know what they want and will plan their own study
  • Those who want to try out several teachers at low cost

#6 - Lingoda: small groups following a CEFR curriculum

Lingoda is a Berlin-based online school where lessons last 60 minutes and take place in groups of up to 5 or one-to-one. Everything is built on its own CEFR-aligned curriculum from A1 to C1, with business English covering A1-B2. Around a million classes take place there each year, so you can find a slot at almost any hour.

This is a platform for someone who wants to know where they stand in the curriculum. Every lesson has a topic and a goal, and each one follows on from the last. The tutors are certified and speak at native level, but in a group you usually get someone different each time.

There are two rules to know before you buy. You have to cancel a lesson at least 72 hours in advance or lose the credit, and that is what users complain about most. Prices are in dollars, euros or pounds, so paying in złoty means a currency conversion. On the plus side, unused credits roll over to the next period and stay valid for a year from purchase.

Standout feature: a curriculum that leads from lesson to lesson

Instead of random conversations you get a path: level, module, lesson topic. The live lessons are backed by more than 100 hours of AI-supported self-study materials. If you want the structure of a language-school course without the commute, this is where you get it.

Key features

  • 60-minute lessons: group (3-5 people) or one-to-one
  • CEFR curriculum A1-C1, business English A1-B2, booking 24/7
  • 4-week subscription, credits roll over to the next period
  • 7 days free (3 group classes or 1 private class) and 14 days for a refund
  • Lingoda Sprint, with the chance to get part of the fee back

Pros

  • ✓ Clear curriculum from A1 to C1
  • ✓ Small groups and full, hour-long lessons

Great platform to learn minus the stringent credit rules I enjoy learning through Lingoda as the teachers are fantastic and I have access to plenty of learning materials. 1-hour session is perfect and all the teachers I've had so far are highly experienced, professional and warm, they create a wonderful learning experience. The only downside to Lingoda is the policy of having to cancel class 72 hours prior to the booked session, otherwise the credit will be forfeited. I think this policy should be revised as sometimes we have emergencies that cannot be avoided and we lose the credit if we do not attend the class. [...] Otherwise, I am satisfied with Lingoda.

Instructors are very impressive and helpful. I really appreciate that there is a maximum of 4 students per class and that classes are not canceled when I am the only student.

#7 - Cambly: talk to a native speaker without booking

Cambly is an American platform where you open the app and moments later you are talking to a native speaker. Lessons last 30 minutes and are available around the clock, and if you prefer fixed times, you can book a slot with a tutor of your choice. After every lesson you get a recording, a transcript and automated feedback.

The offer is split into three plans. Small Groups (for over-21s) means conversations with a native speaker and learners from other countries, and it is the cheapest way to get used to different accents. Private+ gives you one-to-one lessons and Cambly courses, and Pro adds tutors from the Cambly Pro programme plus self-study recommendations.

The weaker points are the ratings and the cancellation rules. On Trustpilot, Cambly has 2.0/5 from just 264 reviews, and only 17 of them were posted in the last 12 months, so read that score with caution. If you stop a long-term plan early, you lose the discount. We described how Cambly differs from the marketplaces in our Preply vs Cambly comparison.

Standout feature: a conversation within minutes, at any hour

Before a job interview at 9am or after getting home from work at 11pm, the routine is the same: open the app, pick an available tutor and start talking. Tutlo also works on demand, but in 20-minute blocks. Cambly is built around a half-hour conversation with a native speaker, and the recording with its transcript lets you go back to the phrases that came up.

Key features

  • 30-minute lessons around the clock, with or without booking
  • Native speakers only
  • Recording and transcript of every lesson, automated feedback
  • Small Groups (21+), Private+ and Pro plans, unlimited pronunciation and grammar practice
  • 10% off a 3-month plan and 45% off a 12-month plan, full refund within 7 days on your first plan

Pros

  • ✓ A conversation within minutes, at any time of day
  • ✓ Native speakers only
  • ✓ Recordings and transcripts for revision
  • ✓ Small groups at a very low price

Cons

  • ✕ 2.0/5 on Trustpilot (264 reviews) and few recent ratings
  • ✕ No explanations in Polish
  • ✕ Cancelling a long-term plan means losing the discount
  • ✕ The 12-month plan renews automatically unless you switch it off

Price

Cambly's prices depend on the country and current promotions. We converted the rates for a 30-minute lesson from the Turkish lira price list for a plan with 2 lessons a week (1 TRY = 0.0791 zł).

Plan (30 min, zł per lesson) 1 month 3 months (-10%) 12 months (-45%)
Small Groups ≈16 zł ≈13 zł ≈8 zł
Private+ ≈52 zł ≈43 zł ≈26 zł
Pro ≈76 zł ≈63 zł ≈39 zł

Cambly don't properly vet their tutors I made a complaint about someone who works for Cambly making inappropriate (racist) comments online, Cambly simply never bothered to respond. The person still works for Cambly.

Which combination of features suits you?

We ranked the platforms by our own criteria, but your order may well look different. It is easier to start from what your week looks like and how much you want to spend:

  • You want the same tutor and visible progress, and you read the terms and conditions from start to finish: Flalingo
  • You are starting from scratch and need explanations in Polish, in short doses: Tutlo
  • You want to choose your own tutor and rate, including someone who speaks Polish: Preply
  • You like learning with other people, but in a group of four at most: Fluentbe
  • Your calendar changes from week to week: italki
  • You need a step-by-step curriculum and you plan ahead: Lingoda
  • You want to talk to a native speaker this evening: Cambly
How much does an hour of online English costs in Poland

One very Polish piece of advice: before you pay, ask the school in writing for the price of a single lesson, the contract length with its notice period, and the cost of cancelling after three months and after six. If a school can't give you that in a single email, treat it as a warning sign.

The biggest difference, in our experience, comes from pairing the same tutor with concrete feedback after every lesson. The first takes the stress out of speaking, and the second shows you that the effort is turning into results. That is why Flalingo sits at the top of this list.

Frequently asked questions

1. Polish tutor or native speaker?

A Polish tutor at the start and, from B1 onwards, more often a native speaker, although a tutor's teaching training matters more than their passport. A tutor who learned English themselves will explain the difference between the present perfect and the past simple more quickly and will anticipate the mistakes Poles typically make, a point Péter Medgyes made back in 1992. A native speaker gives you the natural pace of conversation and the accent you will hear at work. Tutlo and Preply let you choose either, while at Flalingo and Cambly only native speakers teach. Flalingo also offers its website, reports and support in Polish.

2. How much does a 60-minute online English lesson cost?

Around 70 zł on average. According to the 2026 e-korepetycje.net report, an hour of English with a tutor teaching online costs 71.66 zł, the median is 60 zł, and lessons at university level and for adults average 81.22 zł. On platforms the spread is wider. Group classes at Lingoda and Fluentbe start at about 23-27 zł an hour, and one-to-one lessons at Fluentbe from 99 zł. At Flalingo, 50 minutes on the annual package costs about 50 zł, and at Tutlo, according to review sites, 20 minutes costs from about 29 zł, or about 87 zł an hour.

3. Are Tutlo's 20-minute lessons enough for an adult?

They are enough for regular speaking practice, as long as you take several a week. A 2006 meta-analysis by Cepeda and colleagues found that we remember material spread over several shorter sessions for longer than material covered in a single block. Three 20-minute lessons add up to an hour of contact with the language on three different days. The short format works less well for rehearsing a presentation, working through a longer text or simulating a job interview. For those tasks, a 50- or 60-minute lesson is a better fit.

4. Group or one-to-one classes?

One-to-one if you want to speak as much as possible and have a specific goal, group classes if a lower price and contact with other people matter more to you. In a one-to-one lesson, all of the speaking time is yours. In a group you pay less but share the time: with four people and an hour-long class, you realistically get a dozen or so minutes of speaking. Fluentbe caps its groups at 4 people and Lingoda at 5, while Cambly's small groups are a tutor with 1-2 learners. A good compromise is often one one-to-one lesson a week plus a group.

5. What should I watch out for at schools with long contracts?

Above all, the cost of cancelling partway through. Before you sign, check how long you are tied in, what the notice period is and what happens to unused lessons. Ask for a calculation of what you would pay if you cancelled after three or six months. When you buy online you have 14 days to withdraw from the contract, though you pay proportionally for lessons taken in that time. In December 2024, UOKiK brought charges against Tutlo over precisely this: unclear cancellation costs in 24-month contracts.

6. Which platform is best for business English?

Flalingo if a regular tutor and measurable progress matter most, Lingoda or Fluentbe if you want a group curriculum. Flalingo matches you with tutors who specialise in business English and offers the English at Work series as well as meeting and presentation scenarios in FLAI Speaking. Lingoda teaches business English from A1 to B2, Fluentbe focuses on negotiations, presentations and reports, and Tutlo has courses for IT, HR and sales. On Preply and italki you will find tutors with experience in specific industries. We collected practical advice in 10 effective business English tips.
