How are teachers selected?

Only 1 out of every 73 teachers who apply to Flalingo makes it onto the platform. The screening process has five stages:

Teachers who are accepted are tagged by area of expertise, and child pedagogy is one of those tags. Teachers who work with children also go through a background check and child-protection training. How is your child's level assessed?

Through a free English placement test for children that takes just a few minutes at home. It runs right in the browser, so there's nothing to install. The 4-6 age group works through purely visual tasks. For ages 7-12, the test first checks whether the child can read, then switches to a visual, guided, or full question format accordingly. Where appropriate, there's also a speaking section — for example, describing what's happening in a picture of a park, in English. The microphone is only needed for that part. If you select 13 and up, the system routes you to the adult-level test instead.

Is there a trial lesson, and does it cost anything?

Yes, and it's free. The trial lesson at Flalingo Kids lasts 25 minutes. When you book it, you enter your child's details, choose the type of teacher, set up a parent account and verify your phone number, and pick a time that works for you.
