Jak opisać pokój po angielsku (B1): przyimki miejsca, przymiotniki i plan w czterech akapitach

Workers compare differently coloured areas during an office design trial.

Większość pracy wykonują precyzyjne przyimki: “A desk stands against the green wall.” Porównania, takie jak “not as comfortable as”, zmieniają opis w opinię.

at / in the corner

at identifies a point; in the corner identifies the space where surfaces meet

Owen is standing at a table, and a tall plant stands in the corner by the window.

Rozmowa

maya The short questionnaire says people who choose deep blue value calm routines. Does that sound accurate for your team?

owen It says that we prefer predictable work, but that is only partly accurate. We changed the launch plan three times last week.

maya So the label does not match the evidence completely. What about the orange result?

owen According to the result, orange suggests social confidence. That fits our host, but colour choice alone cannot prove personality.

maya I agree. We can use the results to start a conversation, then ask for real examples.

owen That is more accurate than treating the test as a diagnosis.

Konstrukcja zdania

What should the final paragraph add?

It should evaluate the room and explain why its details matter, not merely repeat the furniture list.

Clear organization and reference let the reader construct both the room and its personal meaning.

  • against
  • above
  • inside
  • from
  • comfortable
  • spacious
  • not as…as
  • the darker one

Model: The map room

1. My favourite room is the small map room at my aunt’s guesthouse. It used to be a storage room, but she offered it to me as a temporary office when I started working remotely. I return to it because it feels separate from the busy house without feeling lonely.

2. The room is narrow but surprisingly spacious near the window. Its walls are a muted blue-grey, while the window frame is cream. Afternoon light comes from the west, so the colour becomes warmer as the day ends. From the desk, I can see the roofs around the market square.

3. A simple oak desk stands against the longest wall, with two shallow shelves above it. Old walking maps are kept inside labelled folders, not displayed, because the patterns would make the room look messy. In the corner there is a comfortable green chair, and a small brass lamp sits on a table beside it. A faded red rug lies in the middle of the floor and makes the restrained colours less formal.

4. The room is useful rather than luxurious. Everything has a clear purpose, yet the maps connect my present work with family journeys. That balance is why this quiet room remains more desirable to me than the larger rooms downstairs.

Adjective position and comparison

before a noun; no plural -s

An adjective normally comes before its noun and never takes a plural ending.

They installed powerful computers in a quiet room, not powerfuls computers.

regular comparison

Use -er/-est with short adjectives; final spelling may change.

The green booth is quieter, but the blue booth is the busiest.

more/most and irregular forms

Long adjectives use more/most; good, bad, and far have irregular forms.

The farthest desk has the best view but the worst connection.

not as…as

Use not as + adjective + as to say one thing has a lower degree of a quality.

The yellow chairs are not as comfortable as the green ones.

less/least

Less and least work with adjectives of any length.

The open area is less peaceful, and the kitchen is the least suitable place for calls.

two-syllable -er/-est

These common two-syllable adjectives can take -er and -est.

A narrower table creates a quieter, simpler layout.

a bit / much + comparative

A bit marks a small difference; much marks a large one.

Zone B is a bit brighter but much more stressful.

one / ones or adjective alone

Use one/ones after an adjective to replace a countable noun; an adjective can stand alone when the understood noun is a substance or category.

Of the lamps, choose the white ones; for wall paint, I prefer white.

Plan opisu pokoju w czterech akapitach

Zadanie pisemne wymaga 140–180 słów w czterech akapitach, a każdy ma jedną funkcję. Tekst wzorcowy powyżej jest zbudowany według tego planu:

  • Jaki to pokój i dlaczego go wybrałeś: “My favourite room is the small map room at my aunt’s guesthouse.”
  • Ogólne wrażenie, czyli wielkość, kolor, światło i widok: “Afternoon light comes from the west, so the colour becomes warmer as the day ends.”
  • Przedmioty i ich dokładne położenie: “A simple oak desk stands against the longest wall, with two shallow shelves above it.”
  • Twoja ocena, a nie kolejna lista: “The room is useful rather than luxurious.”

Przyimki miejsca, które usuwają wątpliwości

Polskie “na” nie zawsze znaczy “on”: “na przystanku” to “at the bus stop”, a “na spotkaniu” to “at a meeting”. Z kolei “w rogu pokoju” to “in the corner”, ale “na rogu ulicy” to “on the corner”. Po angielsku wybierz słowo, które pokazuje dokładnie, gdzie coś jest:

  • In czy inside: inside podkreśla, że coś jest w zamkniętej przestrzeni. “A small plant grows inside a white pot.”
  • On czy above: on dotyka powierzchni, above jest wyżej, zwykle bez dotykania. “A laptop is on the desk, and green lamps hang above the tables.”
  • At czy in the corner: at a table to punkt, a in the corner to miejsce, w którym stykają się dwie ściany. On the corner dotyczy zwykle ulic.
  • From czy with: from określa punkt widzenia, a with dodaje cechę. “From the desk, I can see the roofs around the market square.” “The office chair is covered with black mesh.”
  • Against, along, in the middle of: “A desk stands against the green wall, windows run along the back of the room, and a woman moves a chair in the middle of the office.”

Przymiotniki: pozycja i porównanie

Przymiotniki nadają pokojowi charakter, a porównania zmieniają opis w opinię. Polskie przymiotniki zmieniają się w liczbie mnogiej (“wygodne krzesła”), ale angielskie nigdy nie dostają końcówki liczby mnogiej.

  • Przed rzeczownikiem i bez liczby mnogiej: “powerful computers in a quiet room”, a nie “powerfuls computers”.
  • -er/-est przy krótkich przymiotnikach, more/most przy długich, a good, bad i far są nieregularne: “The farthest desk has the best view but the worst connection.”
  • Not as … as przy niższym stopniu cechy: “The yellow chairs are not as comfortable as the green ones.”
  • Less i least z przymiotnikiem każdej długości: “The open area is less peaceful, and the kitchen is the least suitable place for calls.”
  • A bit przy małej różnicy, much przy dużej: “Zone B is a bit brighter but much more stressful.”

Oceniaj na podstawie dowodów, nie etykiet

Ostatni akapit wymaga oceny, którą potrafisz uzasadnić. W rozmowie powyżej dwie osoby sprawdzają, co kwestionariusz kolorów mówi o pewnym zespole. Wykorzystaj ich zwroty do opisu swojego pokoju:

  • “That is only partly accurate.”
  • “The label does not match the evidence completely.”
  • “That fits our host, but colour choice alone cannot prove personality.”
  • Potem podaj dowód na swoją ocenę: “Everything has a clear purpose, yet the maps connect my present work with family journeys.”

Pytania do omówienia przed pisaniem

Najpierw odpowiedz na głos. Najlepsze odpowiedzi staną się czwartym akapitem.

  • “Which room do you return to most, and what makes it different?”
  • “Is a bigger room always better?” Porównaj dwa pokoje, używając not as … as albo less.
  • “Can a colour change how you feel in a room, or is that just a label?”

Częste błędy

Sprawdź w swoim szkicu, czy nie ma tych błędów:

  • Lista bez położenia: “There is a desk, a chair and a lamp.” Daj każdemu przedmiotowi miejsce.
  • “On the corner” wewnątrz pokoju. Powiedz “in the corner”.
  • “Comfortables chairs” albo “more quieter”. Przymiotniki nie mają liczby mnogiej, a przed -er nie stawiamy more.
  • Niejasne it albo one. Jeśli wcześniej pojawiły się dwie rzeczy, powtórz rzeczownik.
  • Ostatni akapit, który znowu wymienia meble. Zamiast tego oceń pokój.

10 minut ćwiczeń dziennie

Wszystko mów na głos, zanim to zapiszesz.

  • 2 minuty: posłuchaj pięciu kart z przyimkami i powtórz każdy przykład, akcentując przyimek.
  • 3 minuty: opisz pokój, w którym jesteś: pięć przedmiotów, pięć różnych przyimków.
  • 3 minuty: porównaj dwa pokoje w trzech zdaniach: jedno z -er, jedno z not as … as, jedno z less.
  • 2 minuty: napisz jedno zdanie, które ocenia twój pokój, używając rather than albo but.

Następny krok

Potem opisuj zdjęcia: najpierw powiedz, dlaczego zdjęcie jest dla ciebie ważne, a na poziomie B2 oddzielaj to, co widać, od tego, co tylko wnioskujesz. Żeby poćwiczyć porównania, porównaj dwie opcje według tych samych kryteriów. Jeśli chcesz innej umiejętności z poziomu B1, wybieraj formy przyszłe w wyważonej opinii.

Najczęstsze pytania

Czym różni się on od above?

On oznacza dotykanie powierzchni: “A laptop is on the desk.” Above oznacza wyżej, zwykle bez dotykania: “Green lamps hang above the tables.”

Mówi się in the corner czy on the corner?

Wewnątrz pokoju mówimy in the corner: “A tall plant stands in the corner by the window.” On the corner zwykle opisuje zewnętrzny róg ulicy albo budynku: “The café is on the corner.”

Jak opisać pokój po angielsku?

W czterech krokach: jaki to pokój i dlaczego go wybrałeś; wielkość, kolor, światło i widok; przedmioty i ich dokładne położenie; oraz dlaczego pokój jest ważny. Przyimki, takie jak against i above, oraz porównania, takie jak not as … as, sprawiają, że opis jest jasny i osobisty.
