Brazilian Portuguese pronunciation test for a business introduction

Use Flalingo’s Portuguese pronunciation test with its pt-BR reference to practise a word from your introduction to Brazilian colleagues. Then check whether a listener can identify your role and proposed next step. This is Brazilian Portuguese practice, not a claim about a European Portuguese reference.

Introduce a useful role rather than a full biography

Imagine joining a first call with Brazilian colleagues. They need to know your responsibility and how your work connects to theirs. Write two sentences about your role and a third about the next conversation you want to have. Use fictional project details. An impressive biography can obscure the useful connection. Ask a partner to describe what they would contact you about after hearing the introduction once.

Use the Brazilian reference deliberately

The test reference is pt-BR. Keep that context visible when comparing your word attempt with the result. This is not an assessment against a European Portuguese reference, and it does not establish coverage of every Brazilian regional variety. If your English reading habits affect a particular word, compare the recorded word with a reliable Brazilian spoken model. Investigate an observed difficulty rather than assuming all English-speaking learners share one pronunciation pattern.

Place the role word inside its action

Choose the word that names your responsibility and practise the whole phrase around it. A word can be clearer alone than when you join it to the next word or rush the end of the sentence. The Portuguese test gives word feedback, not detailed phoneme diagnosis. If the response does not tell you how to adjust, ask a teacher for a demonstration and then repeat the phrase in context.

Invite a relevant question

After introducing yourself, ask a short question about the team’s current work. Your partner responds with an unfamiliar detail; ask for clarification and answer briefly. This turns the introduction into an exchange instead of a performance. Notice whether you keep the role and project terms clear while thinking. If not, practise shorter answers and pause boundaries before adding more words to the prepared opening.

Measure whether colleagues can place your role

Ask the practice partner to identify your responsibility and the proposed next step. Then introduce yourself for a different fictional project without reading. Compare these answers with the first recording. A model estimate cannot establish professional credibility or certify Portuguese level. Success in this practice is a listener who understands how you fit into the work, with clarification available when a term is unfamiliar.

Try it yourself

Try the conversation

“Trabalho com atendimento ao cliente. Vou acompanhar este projeto. Podemos conversar sobre os próximos passos?”
  1. Read the example and check that you understand each sentence. Use fictional details; record once at a comfortable pace without trying to imitate a whole accent.
  2. Choose one word or phrase that matters to this situation. Make one deliberate adjustment, then repeat the complete example rather than only the isolated item.
  3. Ask an adult partner to listen without seeing the script and explain what they understood. Note whether they recovered your role and the proposed next step.
  4. Change one detail and repeat without reading the full script. Compare understanding with the first attempt under similar recording conditions.

Common questions

What should I check in this particular practice?

Ask a listener to recover your role and the proposed next step. Give them the audio without the text first, because a visible script makes unclear details easier to guess. Compare their answer with your intended message and select one mismatch to practise. Then try a changed example, so you test a reusable habit rather than one memorised recording.

What does the online result establish?

It is a model estimate for the submitted sample, not certification or guaranteed intelligibility. For this non-English target, the feedback is at word level; do not assume a separate diagnosis of each sound. Listen to the recording and seek a teacher’s demonstration if you need an explanation the result does not provide.

Does my first language tell me what I must fix?

It can suggest questions to investigate, but it cannot diagnose your individual recording. Your learning history, reading habits and exposure differ from another learner’s. Choose a problem observed in your own sample and check whether it affects listener understanding. If the issue is unfamiliar vocabulary or an ambiguous sentence, practise that separately from producing the word.
